How many Democrats would you like to see with the philosophy you ascribe to the GOP?
You would have been accurate if you had said establishment politicians.

Sniper, I though it was great to see on MSNBC how much Chris Matthews and Paul Rand respected each other tonight, and how much they had in common.. g

How many "Go Fund Me" pages are floating around on the internet for Majestic? I for one would love to see that theater open again, but the people of Streator have done their fair share of donations, & look what that resulted in..the building being boarded up 500K is a bit much to ask for, & my concern is; if the money that was already donated resulted in the place closing, than there is no guarantee we'll get our theater back after 500K more is donated. RIP Majestic, you will be forever missed--gone too soon, but will always be remembered.

What, you don't have faith in Katie's apparant business plan of expecting either a half a million in public donations or divine intervention to be able to fulfill the commitment of her first Save The Majestic donation campaign?

I don't agree with a business asking for donations for the business itself. Didn't agree when they did it for the projectors.

Who is Katie? What is her resume? Does she have past success in operating a movie theatre? Why should people donate to her fund?

It would appear to me as if she had the chops............. If it was being kept a float the owner never would have up and closed it in the middle of the night. He would have sold it or kept it open. It was reported that he was dumping money into it each month and that was the reason for it's closing. If that is true, then it doesn't sound like she was keeping it afloat. I'm not bashing Katie, just wondering what her background is.

Well, then the financials provided had to be false.......... Somehow I doubt they were.
Doesn't really matter, it's down for the count now.

You are right MM. I was just being cheesey because the Prez's name/policies got dragged into a discussion about the Majestic, which I liked very much. I really hope Katie or somebody can buy it and bring back motion pictures to Streator.

I'm not bashing Katie, just wondering what her background is. He bought the place, knowing he couldn't show first run movies for 10 years. Most theaters that only show old/older movies aren't big money makers. (Remember Kyle's fight with the movie industry over giving first run movies to his competitor with the new movie plex, while sending him leftovers, back in Flagstaff) He owned it for 10 years, before even opening, if I understand correctly. I keep thinking that that was a long time to just sit on something, waiting to open it to make money. Was it ALWAYS supposed to be a loss? As a tax write off? Was the idea of it suddenly being profitable and a tax liability, instead of a tax write off make the difference in him suddenly closing? How many people starting a business venture can afford to buy one that they don't open for 10 years?
