Not only is it a terrible inconvenience, but their timing is plain ignorant...Why didn't they start the heavy work last week when the schools were on Spring Break?...I refuse to go uptown between 2-4 p.m. because it's bad enough navigating around people picking their kids up, but the added mess really takes the cake...

Oh for pity sake. My, so it is a little inconvienent(sp) for a bit. Take a different route. I, was out there today, and folks were polite and patient. Just think how nice it will be when our tax dollars have repaired it. Isn't this, our dollars at work? As for the school. Drop your child off, down the block, and let them walk. smh.

I hear Walmart is paying for this. Not the taxpayers. And also heard they are going to pay to redo Oakley Ave to kangley rd for there trucks to use. If they are spending their own money to fix the public roads In this town, then there must be something big job wise coming here. otherwise they wouldn't be paying for this.

Worst is the Drivers that are so impatient! Everyone needs to slow the heck down. I am so tired of seeing people speed, roll through stop signs (FedEx semi driver - I saw you do that the other day), look down at their laps all the time (at their phone apparently but who knows)and drive like idiots. People need to take a deep breath and enjoy the d**n journey! Oh, and the trucks who have bigger smokestacks than our woodburner - we know you have a truck. We know you have a big truck. You don't have to goose it all the way down the street to draw attention to your in-need-of-an-ego-boost self. Back to topic since I veered a bit, I haven't been out that way during the day. If I am, I'll be one of the polite and patient drivers Toshiko encountered. Those people I enjoy sharing the road with.

If they didn't fix the roads people would be bitching! They are fixing the roads and people are bitching!

My b!tch isnt that they are doing the repair, but it is didnt they just do this like 2 years ago? Seems to me if that is the case the company that did the work obviously did a crap job and should be on the hook for repairs/replacement.

Folks seem to be missing my point - Why wasn't the heavy work done while school was on spring break?...Whoever planned it didn't factor that in...

So, instead of taking you five minutes to get to family dollar it now takes you seven? You're in Streator. How bad can it really be?
