On my face book, I saw a mother complaining about what their student was offered for a meal, while their student was in LAC. A peanut butter, and jelly sandwich, carrots, applesauce, and milk. This particular mother, that that her student should of received the hot lunch, that the other students are offered. My thoughts, is as long as the student is offered a meal at lunch time, and the student does not eat it, than don't complain. There has been times I've offered my kids sandwiches and soup for a meal at home. And considering that the school district, received a grant for all kids to receive breakfast and lunch for free, no matter of income level, I am glad to save that money and use the money on other things.

That is a nutritious meal. Nothing wrong with it. Protein, grains, veggie, fruit and milk. My kids loved having that for lunch at home when the were little

What is LAC?
Typically, the schools will feed a kid something even if they are out of money on their lunch account. If that was the case, then the school actually went above and beyond for the kid.

Hmm, so we don't know if they were out of money or this was the result of the LAC?
Either way, the school had to bring the kid a meal, so it wouldn't make sense to create a special meal just because of the LAC.....
But if it was the result of the LAC, then I think the school is wrong, the punishment should be the suspension, not a lesser meal.

Or, was it because this kid didn't sign up for hot lunch, so they didn't have one for him, and brought him the sub? Easy to jump to conclusions, but what about the facts?

This has to be Northlawn you are talking about, and if they get LAC they get the peanut butter lunch instead of the hot lunch, they are not allowed to go to the cafeteria the food is brought to them.

HEY, a meal is A MEAL. This particulate meal is a Nutritional meal for her child!
IF the kid or Mom didn't like what was being served, then let the kid wait another couple of hours and get fed what the Mother feels IS a proper meal! There is Nothing Wrong with P B & J, Applesauce, Carrots, and, Milk.
There are times that we eat nearly the same as our evening meal; Tomato Soup, Grilled Cheese, Baby Carrots, and a glass of Milk. I'm Thankful for the meal I put in front of us as we ask for a Blessing upon this meal.....
NO MOTHER... Has A Right to deny her child OR complain about this as a meal for her child. Especially since it is a Lunch time meal for her child. She should count her Blessings her child IS receiving a MEAL !

That doesn't make a whole lot of sense, now they not only have to bring the food ( as they do anyway ), but they have to prepare a special meal. I wonder what will happen when they get the kid with a peanut allergy?

If you do not like what is served, pack your kids lunch.

Or you could tell your kid that if they don't like pb&j they should stop acting like a horses azz at school and stay out of trouble that way they can have hot meals every day.
