we have a farmers market in streator wich we support and sell every season but was wondering if I put a seasonal stand up if ppl would buy more often ? I always have lots of veggies an the farmers market is only open on Saturday 8-12 would it be worth it to open a stand during the week ? what do u think ?

I think it would be worth it, but maybe only 1 day? Like a Tues. or Wed. 1/2 way between/from Sat.
AND .... Krogers is crap! Nothing lasts more than a few days! Old, wrinkly, moldy etc....

I think its a great idea to have a place to get fresh homegrown vegetables during the week. I would be open to this idea completely.

Good idea Kibby, I think most people would buy from you, like blue said''Kroger's is way too expensive and seems the produce does NOT last but a few days.

If you think about this....it would be more beneficial to the Community and to the market if there was a all week market...My Uncle had a stand that he had open all week. LOCATION is Key...the sweet Corn stands has good business and they have Tomatoes and other veggies that are crazy $$ at the store...I do not buy veggies in the summer I grow them... If you talk to the guy who runs the farmers market he can help you get a start...but I don't think the city will allow an all week market in the park... JS but if you could find a parking lot near down town or a private house in a high traffic area......just my 2 cents

Sounds like she's already IN w/the farmers mkt. now. I'm womdering if she can put one uo @ the same place in the am? Maybe on the S/W corner of the lot, so as not to interfer in the PC's am business? Centrally located.

I just wanna know how come the Farmer's Market isn't held in our City Park...why is that though? Here it gets held down the street in the Parkway's private parking lot?
Someone care to explain as to why that is? Hell Ottawa holds their Farmers Market every weekend in their downtown park with no problems.
I guess I just don't understand why they can't be in our park.

the parking lot belongs to the bank. not parkway. and i think it had somthing to do with insurance and sceduling w other events in the park. for instance..when the carnival is there the farmer's market couldn't be. so as to not hv the market schedule interrupted, that was a central and available location.

I believe that the farmers market chose that location while the construction was going on, and it's been their choice to stay there, instead of moving when there's a conflict, such as carnivals, etc. I believe they are able to utilize the park, but choose not to, in favor of consistency.
