I don't know why Kyle complains so much about the elected officials and the town. By his standards, the town today is a kinder, softer one than it once was. If Kyle had accused some former elected officials of being corrupt, they would not have used a "three minute" rule. A guy like past mayor Moose Connor would have picked Kyle up and shook him until his little legs were shaking. The Connor family is known for violence? Thank you for the information, I didn't know that. I do know of the comments that a candidate of the same name has made. Are you an attorney? I think I remember you talking about coming back from legal school. The only reason that I ask is because in my opinion it adds such validity to your claim of violence, knowing the implications a claim like that could put on his family.

Open your eyes look at the rest of downtown. Don's Furniture, Trainor Flooring, Ace Hardware, H & H Mercantile, Van Duzer Jewelers, Cinderella Beauty Shop, Steve's Bakery, a couple of eye doctors, Flowers Plus, Secret Garden, Rashids, a couple of tax places, Streator Drugs, Walgreens, CentruBank, D!ck's Floor Covering, Edward D. Jones, SACCI, and I know I'm missing more. All of those businesses look nice. My eyes are open. I tell you what, if I was the owner of one of those businesses I'd be ticked that you are writing them off like they don't exist. There's such a thing as touting the positives in a way to draw traffic.

You left out that flea market store called Flips or Flaps or something like that. Purposely. I won't go there. I have gone there in the past but refuse to now. I'm tired of the owner of the building going on and on about what is wrong with our city and our elected officials. I'm tired of him causing more harm to our downtown than good. I used to think he had good intentions but I don't anymore. It's exhausting to hear of how much he has invested. I've invested in our town, too. I've invested by buying property, maintaining my property, paying my property tax bill on time every year, supporting our schools, our local businesses, talking up the good things our community has to offer, being pleasant and interacting in a positive manner with my fellow citizens and showing them respect, and I could go on and on, as most of you can, too. Many branches of my family have operated businesses in this town for decades and are still in business. They didn't tear down their town in order to try and build themselves up.

Some people don't pay their taxes.

There's such a thing as touting the positives in a way to draw traffic. You left out that flea market store called Flips or Flaps or something like that. There are so many comments and I don't have time right now to respond to them all, but I will later. I haven't written them off. I talk to many of them about the problems that I see. I think that I have support form quite a few. I talked to many about my paint job, many compliments, no death threats. I'll certainly be talking to them about the Final Downtown Plan over the next couple of weeks. Isn't it kind of funny that the cover of it has a picture of the sign that the City required the owner of the building to spend a lot of many on removing to diminish the usability of and value their building? Since many don't have names and have been vacant for so long that you couldn't possibly expect me to know what stores used to be in them, it is kind of hard for me to respond to contrast how many are vacant. I'll go ahead and walk around and take some photos to post for you to try to highlight the contrast to the businesses that you mention; that is what I am referring to. job, Bahahaha, you made a funny. I get it, Flips, Flaps, that is a good one! I could see how you would say flea market. You might not know the difference. In case you haven't noticed, many stores that sell new merchandise have closed up here(I'll post some photos for you, there is one on the pavilion thread), the economy and reputation of Streator just do not really allow them to be very successful here. The buildings should be used for something though. Maybe with your attorney income, you don't realize that there are many people here that can not afford to pay new prices for furniture and name brand clothing, or read a lot of books, and that my son's store could be providing a service to them. Yes, it is kind of like a flea market in that people can bring their used items that still have value to them and receive in store credit or even a cash payout for the things they just don't want any more. I could see how some high and mighty attorney wouldn't be able to see that this could be a service to an economically challenged community. Unlike a flea market though, the people wanting some value out of their items, don't have to rent a booth and sit there until it sells. All they have to do is follow some guidelines and drop it off. Also unlike some flea markets, Flips inspects and controls what is put up for sale, making their best effort to keep it good quality items that people are wanting and in an organized manner. There are actually a lot of used merchandise stores throughout the area. In the Times readership area, Flips was awarded the Second Best Resale Shop. Maybe they are doing something right? The correct term for the store would be a Consignment Shop, in case you wanted to show any respect. I doubt it though, so we'll just laugh each time you call it a flea market as more of the cesspool fill of trying to degrade me, name calling, etc. that goes on because you just don't know whether to answer that the Mayor was afraid of losing the election or thinks he is above the Constitution. The reason I really wanted to respond to you now though is, I would like more information on the Connor Family, since you are so willing to provide. Did he pick up and shake a lot of people? Did he pick up and shake little Moose?

You aren't saying that you don't want me to post them here, are you? I do have another place to post them that might be better.

I believe you directed your initial offer of taking pictures and posting them here at me. I clearly said that wasn't necessary. I have open eyes and am capable of driving downtown myself. Don't put yourself out for me. The pictures you would post would be skewed. I can do my own legwork.

Oh, no, no, it won't be just for you, job and oldtimer really seem to enjoy seeing those type of things too. How would I skew the pictures, by showing a building that looks vacant but you know very well has a back room business? Wasn't job just talking about them?

I tried to do that my first couple of years in business here, but when the negatives keep happening all around me and the City leaders do not want to even acknowledge them much less take action to correct them, I came to the conclusion that we need to highlight the negative to make sure that enough people know that we do need change. So many people arguing against it tells me that I need to keep highlighting it.

Oh, no, no, it won't be just for you, job and oldtimer really seem to enjoy seeing those type of things too. No need to do it for their benefit either. I have enough room in my vehicle and the three of us (Oldtimer, Job and me) will just make a day of it.
