I think it is 20 years after the victim turns 18.

I think it is 20 years after the victim turns 18. dog, You are correct ! Personally, I do not beleive there should be a "Statute of Limitations" on these kind of crimes at all. Many people "believe" they only have to keep "income tax records for seven years", guess what there is no Statute of Limitations on "Tax Fraud". Sleep well! g

This 20 year ruling sure has the possibility of making or putting some ex married individuals in some pretty precarious situations. Sure could be a good way to top off already overcrowded prison systems.

Otto, Gee, how do you surmise "the 20 year ruling" will have "the possibility of making or putting some ex married individuals in some pretty precarious situations"? The "ex" would not be the one to file the charges. The "VICTIM" would be the one who files the complaint. Oh, and as far as the cost, please "double my State of Illinois Taxes" to build those prisons, or re-open them " to keep these creeps away from ALL THE CHILDREN. "And If You Cannot Afford an Attorney...................." g

Ok gilbert...I'll spell it out for ya...what I'm talking about is a situation where one of the ex's claims to have been an underage victim prior to their marriage.

Otto, Gee. then I would suggest that someone might need an attorney. I do know Sniper hates that response but, I really doubt if "repealling Obamacare" would help much in that situation. That is the "risk" a "man" takes when dating a minor, isn't it? g

Id say it was politics involved, all them years ago and now they check into it? somethings funny there! I'd be willing to bet He beats the charge being that they only have a He said She said type of thing going on .... that does not hold water. But they will get what they wanted..... Hes pretty well ruined and that was the plan is my bet.

It's funny how people speculate on something they know nothing about. You don't know the story behind it and according to the articles I've read, more people are coming forward and there are 5 additional cases so far .... you still think it's a political conspiracy or an angry ex? Think maybe there might be truth behind this? Think maybe at the time the victims were scared to come forward? Let those who cast stones and all ....

I think without discussing this case specifically. You are WAY off base with a statute of limitations for this kind of crime. When an ADULT who is in a position of power forces, or manipulates a powerless CHILD into sex it CHANGES THAT CHILD FOR LIFE. It changes how they view themselves (usually with shame) and it causes them to loose trust in others. Sometimes the actual memories are so traumatic they are repressed even though the emotional damage is present and it can take years to resurface to the conscious mind. So, what " So sorry you didn't remember it happened and now you do guess it's too bad for you" Sure statute of limitations if someone takes a BIKE, not for taking someones INNOCENCE.
