I would never argue the need for us to update and upgrade our immigration policies, specifically regarding the pathway to US citizenship. More importantly, the issues need to be laid out followed by a good healthy debate. It's past time for new comprehensive review and legislation. After all, Trump brought the issues to our attention. Isn't it right to resolve them? So what are the issues? What needs to be changed, added, or removed?
Is it fair or right to boot all the undocumented out of the US? Should we place an age limit on Dreamers or boot them all out?
Should we alter our provision to citizenship for babies of the undocumented? And what about allowing citizenship to the undocumented parents of the babies born here?
It's crazy. There's so many issues and too many questions.
So what do you think?

Very simple in my eyes if your ILLEGAL I don't care if you where brought here as a child or not your ILLEGALLY here and should be deported. Also the crap about just being born here and your a citizen needs to be addressed ASAP. No other nation does that also. I say send them all home we have enough unemployed to cover what they are doing already it would provide Jobs for those in the inner cities and pretty much end welfare as we know it. It would also save the US Government BILLIONS in Welfare costs each year. It is estimated that Welfare for Illegals costs 140 Billion each year at the Federal level and over 100 Billion more at the state level. Think what the savings would be for US Taxpayers.

Good healthy debate?
How about we start with the obvious need to allow only those in who can assimilate to our culture, and learn our language? How about we acknowledge those with the most skills and the ability to help this country should be placed first in line? How about we recognize that just because Juan has skills, it doesn't mean we should allow the 74 relatives who are not skilled also get a freebie?
Lets start there and move forward.
BTW, much has been made of Trump's "racism" over the Norway comment, but no question of the legitimate anti-european bias of the Immigration policy?

AND END THE EARNED INCOME CREDIT . Alot of illegals from mexico are getting as much as $100.000 from the irs and sending that to mexico.
Stop funneling money to mexico. Your basically financing there ability to buy enough weaponry to go to war with us.

What I don't understand is why more people who came here legally and went through the lengthy process to become citizens aren't more vocally in support of stronger immigration enforcement. If I had gone through the process I'd be greatly disturbed at the US allowing "line jumpers" so to speak. We can rename it all we want, undocumented citizens or whatever, but it's still ILLEGAL. And people who break the law should expect and accept the consequences. We are all human. We all feel bad for the kids who lived their whole lives here and now have to go, that's sad, but that's not my fault. Why does no one turn to their parents and put the blame squarely where it belongs.. on their shoulders. There was a story in the news recently about a 30 year old man who was deported along with his parents and siblings. He lived his whole life here. My question was, didn't his parents once in those 30 years think "hmmm maybe I better work on my citizenship"? No because they knew they could just wait it out and sooner or later they hit an amnesty period.
There are people living in tragic situations all over the world and I bet we'd all love to help if we could. But we have legal US citizens living in tragic situations. We have Vets homeless or dying slow deaths in VA Hospitals, We have children on the streets of inner cities with no place to sleep, we have bright smart teens who will never reach their potential because they can't afford college, hell take a ride through the Appalachian Mountains and you will be shocked at the poverty, people with out water, heat, decent clothes, half starved and living in rubble. How about we clean up our own house before we worry about the neighbors.

Seems like we need a convention of the states to address that issue then, no?

There are about 90,000 DACA recipients and millions more undocumented. You understand most undocumented adults are employed. If we're truly taking this problem seriously, why aren't we hearing about more employers being fined for hiring the undocumented? If they couldn't so easily find employment or a means of support, what would be their incentive to come here and keep coming back?? Why are we only focusing on deportation?

We definitely should be fining employers more often. It would be a step towards solving the problem.

Well the GOP wants to make E-verify mandatory nationwide as part of any Immigration bill and also tack on some fines for those that hire illegals. The chatter is 10K per illegal they do hire per day they have been employed. Think any company is going to risk it.

The law is they can't employ illegals without work permits/visas. Clearly they have been employing them and continue to do so but they're not being fined. Do you really believe we would have the huge influx of illegals if they couldn't find work? Why no fines? Don't you think this is the core of our immigration problems? We wouldn't have the problems now if this law was being enforced. Why isn't the issue being highlighted? Why are we only blaming and punishing the illegals and not the employers who drew them in and gave them employment?

Sure they will, Asplundh ( SP? ) tree service just got whacked far harder than that. No, what needs to happen is a 5 year Federal prison sentence for the CEO and the VP of Human Resources of any company that is found to have not followed the law. PERIOD.
