overpassesforamerica.com/?p=17275Instead of black American, fill in Streator. Instead of waiting for 'someone' to bring business to Streator, for 'someone' to make positive changes, Streator needs to look to Streator. To young entrepreneurs. To all those that have always wanted to start that business, but didn't. We have the incubator, there are buildings sitting empty, just waiting to be filled. No one is going to swoop in and save the day.

Go ahead helen, who is stopping you from opening those businesses? I've already worked hard to do that multiple times and even tried recently to again work WITH the City of Streator to reopen a business. Since the City of Streator has stopped multiple businesses that I've tried to start, I think we need to look to our City leaders to be more inviting to small business, not have such restrictive zoning and other ordinances such as requiring "all" of the snow being removed from the sidewalks, and to start being more open and upfront with the correct requirements for prospective businesses to be able to expect more people to open more of them here. Didn't you hear, OSF supposedly did swoop in and save the day? Our City manager claims that their non-hospital here is going to lower employers' health care costs to repatriate the jobs lost overseas over the last 25 years. According to him there should be plenty of businesa coming here in just a few short months. Don't you have any faith in what they say?

Hey stupid, why don't you take the same stuff you post over and over back to your other section and leave this one alone for a change. All you do is high jack every post. It's beyond old.

That was my first post on this thread, so it was a change. Gee oldtimer, something like 80% of the threads on the first page I haven't even posted on. If I am stupid and you think that I "high jack every post", does that make you beyond stupid?

There could be so much more potential here if our City leaders stopped doing stupid things like creating their ridiculous zoning, requirements, and overly restrictive ordinances. Is it really any cheaper in Streator if you have to purchase the property before they will even let you know if it will be able to be used for the business and then they require removing "all" of the snow from the sidewalks or be subjected to their daily fines? Maybe if our City leaders started doing things differently we would be able to see the potential utilized to improve our community.

Silence is golden.

With our City leaders doing things the way that they do, I bet that silence from the public is golden for them. Silence just lets the problems continue uncontrolled in my opinion. Should we just keep quiet about it being wrong that poison continues to be distributed here without consequences, killing more and more loved ones, so that they can keep up their population control? Being silent about them turning away businesses certainly doesn't seem to have been golden for our community. The founding fathers of our country didn't seem to think that silence is golden, but promoted people's ability to speak out against what our government does. Our government isn't for the people and by the people, if the people stay silent about the continuing problems that they see.

Yes indeed it is. BUT you have to go the extra mile to end it. A lot of effort and time, and well worth it.

What have you done to end our City leaders trying to keep business away with requirements that do not follow our laws, hiding requirements, pracricing selective enforcement of overly restrictive ordinances, overly restrictive zoning of commercial properties, FTC complaints against companies wanting to invest in our community to repatriate the jobs lost over the last 25 years, etc? Are you at least speaking up to ask them to try to end the poisoning population control?

Funny thing. I have never seen your name on a election ballot. Kyle, honest, I would vote for you. Every town needs a "gadfly". We have not had a person on the council that said "I don't know, but this is wrong." since Mr. Dominic. (sp)
