Why can't the First Lady just be a wife? Stand behind her man and keep the home fires burning. We don't elect the First Spouse*. (I didn't vote for this one's husband either.) Why does she need a staff or pet projects?

*I hesitated to type First Spouse, thinking of Bill Clinton out there, but my advice would be the same if it was a First Man in the White House. Your wife was voted in (God forbid - Please not Hilary)so be her husband, stand behind her and keep the home fires burning. You don't need a staff.

Betty Ford had almost the same number.

Jacqueline Kennedy, who made renovating the White House her cause, had about 40 people on staff, Cordery said.

Yep, her staff is not out of line given the nature of what is expected of her.

Besides, those salaries are dirt cheap compared to the cost of the food that has been discarded at school during her tenure.

Perhaps we should send her on more vacations so she can't cause more grief............ It would probably be money well spent.

  Both Michelle and her husband slid into Harvard because they were black...no other reason.

  Michelle did much better academically at Princeton than Barry did at Columbia, but both were admitted to their respective colleges and Harvard law via affirmative action quotas. 

The fact is that Obama did not make the Law Review the old-fashioned way, the way HLR’s first black editor, Charles Houston, did 70 years prior.

To Obama’s good fortune, the HLR had replaced a meritocracy in which editors were elected based on grades – the president being the student with the highest academic rank – with one in which half the editors were chosen through a writing competition.

This competition, the New York Times reported in 1990, was “meant to help insure that minority students became editors of the Law Review.”
