The new hot pepper seed cylinder is popular out back. The snObirds / Junco's should be showing up within the next week or two!

I had to bust open a new bag of feed yesterday & filled up the depleted feeders. That was fast. They are hungry. We finally saw "our" rabbit that lives next to the front porch.

A flock of starlings take flight in what is known as a murmuration, a rare gathering that looks like dancing clouds. Watch more: nbcnews.to/1HSEntL

I have to confess, I rarely monitor this thread......Monday on my way back from Ottawa I saw a huge bird swoop down and briefly land on Rt. 23 to pick up some roadkill. I was North of Grand Ridge and maybe just a little South of the Cemetery. It was a BALD EAGLE! AMAZING! Pretty far from Utica and the River. Anyone know if there are any nests near GR? we have had some eagles hanging around down by the canoe launch all summer MM. when I was fishing between the bridges there were 2 of them there looking for fish this year.

When I started to bird watch years back, I, was amazed, when I actually kept track of how many birds we have here and how many more species, I have not seen before, in person. Like the red breasted grosbeek(sp)and blue buntings.

They are so awesome. Amazing that they are right here in Streator. I always thought I would have to go to Canada or Alaska to see them some day. Or maybe they would even be extinct by now. Here they came to me in Streator.....sometimes the tree huggers and getting rid of DDT is a good thing huh? I saw my 1st Bald Eagle back in the 60's in at Reelfoot Lake in TENN. My Dad & I were on a fishing trip there because the rivers had gotten soooo polluted here. It is great that they are back in the Illinois River Valley!

I always thought the roadrunners were cool. Little speedy things they are.

It's funny to see the dust trail behind them as they're speeding along.
