Congress is looking to overhaul social security. They are planning to cut beneficiaries by half to weed out fraud and abuse From people who are not really disabled. They are looking at the ones who go out and get a lawyer to fight to get them on disability. They claim these are the people that are ripping off the tax payers . There will be alot of people stressed and afraid of being kicked off. this is via from Washington journal.

There will be alot of people stressed and afraid of being kicked off. this is via from Washington journal. Number one, a person that is not on disability, and are trying will not be able to get disability unless they are 50 or over. Two, if you are truly disable, that is why people actually get a lawyer, or other wise the lawyers will not take your case, unless you are disable. It is ssi that are ripping tax payers off not the ones that are disability. SSI and SSDI are not the same thing. SSI are the ones that are depending upon tax payers. SSDI is what you put in when you work and can only get if you work at least 15 years or more. Now its the link program and Medicaid program from my understanding that the government are thinking about cutting because of the abuse.

I wouldn't sweat it rocket. with the upcoming presidential election both political parties will be wanting to make friends and gain votes. I don't see any drastic cuts being made to any social programs in the near future.

No they said disability that they are cutting to weed out fraud And abuse that includes both ssi and ssdi. And I don't see any employer going to hire someone with a mental disability other then the agencies that serve them.

employers are given a tax break to hire disabled people or veterans. one of the biggest corporations is walmart which ask on their application if you are a veteran or disabled receiving some form of government subsidy.

I hope they don't let some "Fall-through-the-Cracks!" many are elderly, children & veterans!
On the other hand I'm sure many know peeps, even here, in town that "Play-the-Game!" I heard one guys wife even quit her job due to the fact "Her" salary would stop his eligibilty!

I was discussing this topic with someone, and his thinking Is they will cut every one off and make them reapply. and at the sametime cut the disability criteria list in half To cut down the number of people recieving ssi and ssdi.

The government has made it hard to get the ssdi. By how the law reads, you have to be 50 or older in order to receive ssdi. The reasoning is that if your 50 or older and have health issues, it's harder for a person over 50 to get hired on at a place. That is why more and more people are getting denied ssdi. Because of their age. At least that is how it was explained to me by at least 3 different lawyers.
I also know that people are getting denied link or the link is being taken away from people.
From my understanding that the government are talking that people that are on strictly ssdi are the ones that are going to receive the medical card and link. And down the line people that are on ssi, are going to be cut off ssi.

Down the line, the government will take away SSI, will not have link or Medicaid unless your elderly or really and I mean "REALLY" disable. That means that all these people that are too lazy to even flip burgers, or sweep, or mop, will be forced to go get a job or otherwise they will be without. The government has to step up, and some how save money on these people that are not willing to work.
