That was the crash, but it was north of us. 80/94 runs across Indiana. At one point, 80 heads south and runs into a toll road. However, 94 crosses the state and heads up into Michigan. The area from Long Beach and Michigan City is the beginning of the "snow belt." All along the lake, for close to a hundred miles, the towns and roads are hit with heavy snow. The area where the pile-up occurred is the worst area. On one occasion, we had to stay in a motel because of the visibility. On several occasions, the black ice made driving nearly impossible. Although we live at the southern end of the snow belt, we still get a lot of snow. That is not a wedding cake on our deck below.

www.usatoday.com/videos/news/nation/2015/01/12/21672063/This shows a dashboard cam for the drivers point of view. I used to take 94 all the time when we went skiing. And saw many pileups over the years, that i thought were bad. This boggles my mind.esp that in all that, only one person lost their life.

On one of our "bad" trips on 94, we were on our way to Boyne Highlands and Nub's Knob to ski.
