I admit that I have ate chili for breakfast. lol Of course, on those days I'm up super early and by the time 8am rolls around it doesn't seem so strange.
We are all about waste not, want not around here. I always make one meal with an eye on how to use the leftovers in a new way for the next meal. Mashed potatoes become mashed potato salad, or potato rolls, or cinnamon rolls. Leftover roast becomes stew and then becomes beef pot pie. Love to figure out new ways to use stuff up.

Try making Potato pancakes out of your leftover mashed.......... A wee bit of spice and fry them suckers up. We also make deep fried potato balls out of some.

Along with chicken soup and beef soup. cp, I'm always looking for great soup recipes if you'd care to share. My favorite is a good THICK Cheddar Broccoli or Cheddar Cauliflower soup. Mine always turn out not thick and creamy. That's the texture we like and I fail to duplicate the creaminess. 12 quart pot.... 2lbs of any beef Angus beef perhaps / beef stock in a jar powder is the best use whole jar / celery / carrots/ peas / also use the leafs off the celery if they leave them on grrrrrrrrr hate when they remove the leafs, makes a better soup with the extra flavor / onions (2) / celontra excuse the spelling lol / and of course the egg noodle....wait until soup cooks real good then throw in the noodles.... 15 minutes later take flame off let sit 25 minutes. Now my chicken soup, Ill give you one ingredient lol cumin. i let my beef soup cook for about an hour /half before you throw in the noodles, and cook the beef by itself, when done throw into the soup.

use a little flower to create the texture of you're thickness, you can control how creamy you want it.

I've tried COLD water with; flour, corn starch, and;
making a roux; (melt butter in a side pot, add flour, stir continually while simmering until color changes to a light golden brown, no lumps, and flour is cooked).... set aside and allow to cool.
At least 1/2 hr. prior to serving; add roux to simmering soup slowly while continually stirring until soup is the consistency and thickness of desire.
N O T ! My Cheese/ Cream soups ALWAYS turn out mealy whether I use the mixture of Corn starch / flour and Cold water, or the roux.
It could be the cheese of our choice, which is Sharp Cheddar ( ? ) Though this does not explain the same texture of my Cream Soups.
I did just have a thought come to mind; when I make Broccoli or Cauliflower with Cheese Sauce, I always add dried Mustard. I've not tried adding this to my soups.

We used to make potato pancakes every fall at harvest.. But fried mashed potato patties the next day were always a staple..
