Ballad of the Edmund Fitzgerald is another one. Were it not for that song, it would have been consigned to the dustbins of history. Another song is Carly Simon's "You're so Vain. The last time I checked, there was no clear answer as to who she had in mind.

Clapton's Tears in Heaven was the first to come to mind. "I Will Always Love You" by Dolly Parton is another.

Clapton's Tears in Heaven was the first to come to mind. "I Will Always Love You" by Dolly Parton is another. Two great songs. Clapton refuses to play it in concert anymore. Porter Wagoner was the MC at the Opry on one of our trips there.

No song has more phony back stories than Phil Collin's "In The Air Tonight." Collins has explained that the song was about his bitterness after his divorce from his first wife.

You're so vain was written about record producer David Geffen. Simon denies this. I had heard some time ago that Simon wrote the song about Kris Kristofferson. Mick Jagger's name has also been floated around as a possible candidate. I think she had briefly dated both guys.

I don't think she's ever revealed who the song is about and don't believe she ever has plans to disclose either.
