It depends on who you talk to.
The issue of closing our borders...or not...is just another one of many urgent, overwhelming, and polarizing issues facing America at this time.
How many new "immigrants" can we absorb indefinitely? This isn't the 1800s or the 1900s. There are no canals to dig, no railroads to build, no factories to work in, etc.. Are we going to simply take all of the poor and disenfranchised people in the world and put them on welfare for the rest of their lives?
What do I think? I think we ought to consider our status with Mexico as having an "unfriendly nation" status with us and act accordingly...that is...tell them that our armed forces will be making incursions into their country in order to do whatever it takes to stop the illegal entry of people into our country. Offer to work together with them and if their reaction to the offer is unsatisfactory...violate their borders and take matters into our own hands. What we're doing now is ludicrous and embarrassing, considering we are the strongest power on earth.
Enough, already.

How about we do nothing more than quit obliterating the language for the sake of cheap political gain?
These are ALIENS, not Immigrants. By definition, there can be no such thing as an illegal Immigrant who did not first come thru the Immigration process ( overstaying a Visa, etc. )
People in this country are so kowtowed to weenie liberals that they have given up even accurately describing this menace.
As for how many? Try about negative 40 million, we cannot keep feeding the unproductive we already have, native or illegal.
Until we start producing real goods again, we are going to pass Guatemala on the race to the bottom at a breakneck speed.......

There is no reason for manufacturers to put their plants here as long as other countries have more attractive business climates. You know that...why do you continue to extol this theme constantly? I'm not being rude, just wondering why you won't let this go.

Butters, you ask why, then continue to ask for more money for education.
This IS on the horizon, this IS taking place, even RIGHT here in Streator, despite the LOUSY conditions, and Government entities seemingly trying everything to stop it.
You won't see GM building a huge plant, BUT you will see places like Dovin machine expanding with new buildings and machines, Alloy Specialties not only starting, but getting bigger.
This isn't about huge entities "coming" home, this is about rebuilding from the basement, entities to grow into the future, 1 or 2 employees at a time.
There can be no other way for this country to keep a reasonable standard of living.
