The Times articles indicate that he doesn't want to disclose the personal reasons that he wants to get his family out of there. I find it interesting. Did he help build a City that is unsafe and has an unfriendly business environment that he doesn't want to be around any more? I was sorta curious about how it was worded in the paper. Something about the NEED to get his family out of India, stuck me as it being an urgent matter. You may be correct on the reasons. His family could also be getting physical threats. It seems the criminal case tweets were bogus, at least according to an Indian court. On a separate but related item: Lavasa is a private company, where Streator is a public city. Wouldnt a private entity have more control over what happens in it, compared to a city?Wouldnt they be more in the lines of a mall management group, or a homeowners association and be able to control more of what happens within their own walls or within their development? Is the primary goal of that company to make money, or to provide services for citizens? Arent the leaders of Lavasa more like the board of directors, rather than a city council? Yes, I believe it is a private city, the corporation owns everything, sets and enforces all the rules, controls everyone's lives and business activities. I doubt there are any elected officials, or chance for the public to give any input. I would put it more along the lines of an extreme dictatorship or monarchy than a mall management group or homeowners association. I learned a new word reading about Mr. Wrighton and Lavasa "acquiring" property for the private city. Expropriated 1. to deprive of possession. 2. to transfer (another's property) to oneself. I did read where Mr. Wrighton said when going to Lavasa that he was fed up with Mayors and City Councillors, the elected officials who are supposed to represent the public. What a shame that he has to come back to something he was so fed up of. I would imagine that statement in the press would have taken him out of the running for a job in many communities. I wonder what people in Kirksville have to say about Mr. Wrighton and his statements. With all of the negative baggage that he brings with him, I would of thought that our current City leaders would have gotten a much better financial deal for the people of Streator. However, according to the Times, it seems he is on the higher end of the pay range for communities our size. It just doesn't seem to me like he brings a business friendly perception to our community, something that I think we really need. Some people claim that we are lucky to have him, but it seems to me more like he should consider himself lucky to have us. It just seems strange to me that Mr. Thomas would go to the lengths that he has over just a lease expiring. I think there must be more to that story. I'm sure that our city leaders did their due diligence in finding out all about these situations. Too bad they don't just share some answers to these concerns, but they only use this site for their politics when it is to their advantage, so we will probably have to do without their inside information on it.

Its a fact of life, some people go to extremes when they think they were screwed over. There may be, and there probably is more to the story, but it could also be this guy is slightly out of balance, mentally.

The man is a strong tax pusher. Peoples taxes will probably double or triple when he gets done working his 1st 6months to 1st year of employment. And yes he will find away to get homerule in this town without voters approval..

This guy shuts down businesses that allow illegal activities and has experience with urine soaked streets. It sounds like exactly what streator needs to fix all of our major problem. I wonder how he feel about fish farms.

For a town such as Streator you cannot have Home Rule unless the voters agree to it. There are rules as to population and Streator's is not large enough to automatically have Home Rule.

If indeed Wrighton ends up in Streator, the city should be ready to discover the brazen methods that he adopts to get what HE thinks is right. Citizens and businesses beware and should be ready for the bumpy road-ahead. It is no coincidence that he has been hopping US citiesto land in a country as far as India. The news from other cities and India about his style of functioning is unnerving and has possibly made his position untenable in all those places. Some questions to ponder 1. What made the court accept Criminal Case against him in India and proceed against him? 2. What made him seek bail from Criminal Court there? 3. What made the Criminal Court issue a warrant against him? 4. Only a Court can decide if he allowed to leave from there while on a bail. 5. Is the private city where he is employed suppressing any facts in his favour? 6. What is Wrighton's role in "acquiring" land from Villagers in Lavasa who owned the property for decades? 7. What was Wrighton's role in atrocities and human rights violations on many villagers, which many prominent Civil Activists are protesting about? 8. The Times of India newspaper, which is the biggest in India and which reports positive news about Lavasa owns equity in Lavasa through a venture "Times Treaties" which barters advertisement spaces to equity. Is Wrighton gaining because of this leverage of the company. 9. With Wrighton in command why was the Indian company facing so much negative publicity? 10. Most importantly according to some estimates his present employer Lavasa has just about 200 residents, who are primarily Lavasa employees apart from a few thousand workers involved in Construction. Lavasa as a city although has hundreds of houses but nil occupancy levels. Hence he has not managed a community for long. 11. According to a latest tweets from a senior Social Activist only 2 of of the 20 villages have been built in Lavasa. So why is he leaving now? 12. When he applied to the Indian Company he would have told them that he is "fed up with Mayors and Councillors" in this country. So what is forcing him to seek a job back here. 13. Will Streator accept a City Manager who is running away from law? 14. Why is he accepting a position in Streator from where he was almost removed. Is he not being accepted in any other city? 15. What is his thoughts on Home Rule in Streator? 16. Has the Council spoken to atleast 10 independent sources from his past employers, about Wrighton, which should include representatives from Citizens Forum, Businesses and Local Community? 17. What may be the "personal reasons" he is moving to Streator? Are they all slightly out of balance, mentally? BTW, what is the population of the City minus Lavasa Corp. employees? When were investor/residents informed that they had no rights? Where are the comments from the citizens subjects raving about the community that Mr. Wrighton built?

This guy shuts down businesses that allow illegal activities and has experience with urine soaked streets. It sounds like exactly what streator needs to fix all of our major problem. I wonder how he feel about fish farms. Wow! Illegal activities, really? Did you get that from the letter from Scott Wrighton to the Inspector of Police? Wow, that is some damning stuff! Is the Inspector of Police just another Lavasa Corp. employee? I notice that in the letter Mr. Wrighton mentions the illegal and unlawful activities, but doesn't tell what the illegal activities are, or provide any evidence of it. He is not asking the Police to investigate the crimes or bring charges to any court. It seems that Mr. Wrighton didn't see any need to involve any police or judges in the matter, but that it was acceptable to just declare the person a criminal, without even explaining the charges to anyone. Wow, that reminds me of the City of Streator. Just publicly declare people as illegal without providing any due process or even reading the law first to see if they are actually illegal or not. It seems like the City did find their man in Mr. Wrighton, a total disregard for civil rights. Who cares if he supports Aquaponics, our Mayor is so against it, he'll probably make sure that it won't ever exist.

Where can we find other documentation to support items #1-4? #5 is a very interesting point that probably works both ways. Wouldn't his contractual obligations with Lavasa forbid him from informing Streator's officials about his problems in India? Maybe our Council was blind-sided by him?

Wrighton worked for lavasa, which is a private company. He worked for them as the city manager for the city the company was building. He had orders to follow from his bosses. In my opinion, maybe he got fed up with working for them and has decided to leave because he cannot agree with their methods. The man I worked for when he was manager here was one who cared for the city, organized it from the chaotic mess it was before that form of government was here. He brought stability to the community. While I may have disagreed with him at times back then I always respected him. I won't judge him on something that happened half a world away. I will wait until he takes over here later in the year and judge him on how he does here.

I haven't talked to one person so far that supports this guy. Everyone I've talked to face to face so far all remember his past in this town, and all would like to catch him in an alley and beat the cr@p out of him, or hope someone else will. That is one thing streatorites do . They never forget about a persons past. I don't support city manager form of gov't. This town's size is estimated at 3miles long by 2 miles wide. Way too small to be needing a city manager form of gov't. Those 4 council members and one mayor were elected to do a job. That is to run the whole city themselves. Not a city manager. City manager form of gov't is wasting tax dollars paying one man to do all the work while the other elected 5 sit doing nothing and getting paid to do NOTHING at the expense of taxpayers.
