Probably coming back so he can get enough time to qualify for a pension. I hope this isn't true.

Just checked The Times. He's been hired. Oh boy. I might have to jump to Kyle's side now. This is truly the Good Ol Boys Club.

Well,he will have to watch his back. Cause when he was managing this city in the past, most of the worker's of the old anchor glass plant blamed him for anchor glass closing there doors when they increased the taxes.

Ugh. Here's to hoping he's learned how to manage a city in the years he has been away from the job.

This is a prime example of this city not being able to think ahead with fresh ideas. They bring back the old mis-managers and their failed ideas. Why cannot they hire younger managers with fresh and a progressive outlook? The two newer board members were members were supposed to change the council direction. They must of already have their good old boy and girl badges. The old worn out re-hired manager will tax the citizens and business to extinction. Mark my words, they will try the HOME RULE Scam again and raise taxes and fees!

The only positive I see right now is that he has international business connections. Using those contacts could prove beneficial gor the future.

So not always a good thing since he had failed ideas. We don't even know his track record since then. And Home Rule…really? That comes up every so often anyways. That's an open ended prediction to make. I agree with FOT about the international connection. It may be a good thing for the future.

Never heard of him. I was working for a different city manager a long time ago in a far away land.

Also in todays Times "Lansford and Councilman Ed Brozak said they would like to consider Home Rule as a way to establish and enforce ordinances they are not currently allowed to do. A city must have a population of 25,000 to automatically become Home Rule; otherwise it must be passed by referendum. One way the council is considering increasing its population base is to annex neighboring residences."If they cant get it passed by the voters then they will ram it down our throats www.mywebtimes.com/news/local/streator-council-looks-to-future-with-comprehensive-plan/article_f8d928fd-fefe-5f04-9bdf-bfba762a526e.html

Around 20,000 people live in the 61364 zip code.
There is enough money and enough laws for the city to operate without home rule.
This is where I get tired of the government and taxes and more authority over us. Less government!!!
I don't know why they are bringing wrighton back. While hiring a younger manager with new ideas is a silly thing to say there has to be someone out there besides a retread. You can find a city manager with years of experience who has great and fresh ideas. Little old streator just doesn't have the $$$ to attract them and keep them.
The problem is that the city is just a stepping stone towards a better opportunity with more money for a young city manager.
All that said, perhaps its time to review the city manager form of government and other possibilities.

It was so long ago, that I cant remember, but what were the circumstances behind his departure? Wasnt there some type of vote against him, or something to do with maybe getting rid of the police chief and causing conflict on the council?
