Boy, did the Progressives ever slide THIS one past the American public. In order to satisfy the demands of this new educational nightmare, everyone associated with education - I mean EVERYONE - must be indoctrinated in its goals and practices and forced to conform...by hook or crook. If you have a child in a Streator school, it is being forced down the throats of teachers and students regardless of its dubious and controversial "merits". You would expect universal rejection of it from the two major teacher unions, but they have stabbed their members in the back by leaping onto on this totally anti-American bandwagon like the good little stooges they are. The teacher union's members need to decertify their unions locally ASAP and start to run their own shows.
Replace CCSS with Hitler's Nazi party agenda concerning education in Nazi Germany and the similarities abound. TOTAL revamping of education in America...from university preparation to pre-school is the goal of the Common Core activists. All for the good of the...State.
This means aligning instructional materials and curricular units to the CCSS; conducting highly effective professional development; and redesigning data, assessment and accountability systems to reflect the expectations in the CCSS.
Finally, state and district leaders must work with systems of higher education to guarantee that new mechanisms for teacher evaluation and preparation accurately reflect expectations for student learning. Integrating all of these policy efforts is critical.
State and district leaders must put the CCSS at the heart of broader efforts to create aligned instructional systems. This means tackling a complex and integrated policy set as a whole — thinking through policies on formative and summative assessment (and related technologies); coherent professional development; course approvals and revisions; student supports; new instructional materials; changes to teacher preparation, evaluation and licensing; and improvements to the existing data system and accountability framework.
