Gee rocket, That article is from August 2013. Now do you care to answer the question as to name the M.D.s in Streator that do not accept Medicare or Medicaid? Of course not! Because you can't! g Because you

Does anyone remember the sign that was once in the ER waiting room...or the Oath a Doctor took out of Med school...went kind of like this (Modern version) Declaration of Geneva I think is one of the Oaths they took depending on where they studied.
At the time of being admitted as a member of the medical profession: I solemnly pledge to consecrate my life to the service of humanity; I will give to my teachers the respect and gratitude that is their due; I will practice my profession with conscience and dignity; The health of my patient will be my first consideration; I will respect the secrets that are confided in me, even after the patient has died; I will maintain by all the means in my power, the honour and the noble traditions of the medical profession; My colleagues will be my sisters and brothers; I will not permit considerations of age, disease or disability, creed, ethnic origin, gender, nationality, political affiliation, race, sexual orientation, social standing or any other factor to intervene between my duty and my patient; I will maintain the utmost respect for human life; I will not use my medical knowledge to violate human rights and civil liberties, even under threat; I make these promises solemnly, freely and upon my honour.

Actually you have that backwards, the more chargeable time, the cheaper the cost to the ultimate consumer. The problem lies with the fact that those folks running in with the sniffles, etc, don't have insurance and those of us who do subsidize it. If everyone paid equally, we all would get a fair shake, and people would not run to the ER for the sniffles. Sniper, There you go! Who can ensure that all pays equally? g Oh GOLLY, I don't know. What if your PLUMBER charged one rate for you and another for me? What if your MECHANIC charged one rate for you and another for me? Golly, how is it those PRIVATE SECTOR ENTITIES can do it, yet DOCTORS AND HOSPITALS CANT?

I would say most of the people doing this are on medicaid , that pays a much lower amount of the charges and people who don't have any at all and pay none. Not sure how that helps lower the cost... You are exactly right, with all the lower payments, those who have insurance must pay a far higher rate. The key is to either pay the uniform rate, or not treat non-emergency cases without payment of some form. I always get a charge out of the fact that when I get the flu, I take some Theraflu bought at the store and continue on, while those who don't pay seem to find their way to a Doctor who gives then the Theraflu..............

It seems to me that if you have insurance, Not the medical card, you as the patient is paying higher amount for services as oppose to those that are on the Medicaid. People with insurance are paying for the ones that are on the medicaid and is not right.

Yep, imagine what you would tell a Plumber if he asked you to pay more for his services than the guy next door.
