Probably because of the sandy hook tragedy. It was on the news awhile back that the media was going to start hiding these stories to make people look for them instead of making them front page /top news. People were getting tired of every time you turn on a radio,tv or pick up a news paper or read the news online,that these tragedies are plastered on the front page or breaking news /top news headline. If people want to read these stories,will now have to search for them. Such as this thread soforum.proboards.com/thread/46468/shocking-news I posted that this story was not on the front page of the times website. I had to search their site to find it. |

Why? It is probably the same reason that the media, in its constant screeds against guns, rarely mentions that for the last decade 75% of the homicides in Chicago are blacks killing blacks.

It barely made the News down here in the Little Rock Area Butterbean. Why it was just another senseless Black on Black Killing that happens down here.
My kids are being bullied all the time down here by 5 kids all African Americans and the Pulaski County School District is NOT DOING ANYTHING to Stop it. My oldest son hit one of the bullies that was attacking his sister at the school the Principal saw the attack going on her reaction was to suspend My Son for fighting. Not to do anything to the kids causing the problems. 5 Days and we are gone from this area and moving back north.

They should be able to go to school to learn, not to have to worry about being bullied. I feel sorry that you and your family had to go thru that. Just a few months ago, you were saying the teachers, schools, police and city government were all so much better than Streator's. Did something happen down there that changed all of that? |

My father died and someone has to be close to my mother to help take care of her. So I got the votes aka 2-1 from my Brothers to be the one that does it again.
The City Government is not bad here they handle issues fast and Hard. However the School as the year went on became a joke. The school is a Huge pusher of Common Core and they expect 4th Graders to be able to do Algebra and Triganomitry plus the shear amount of Homework the teachers assigned was out of this world. When a 4th grader is bringing home 4 hours a night every night there is a problem. My Daughter in 1st grade had 2 nights of 2-3 hours of it a week. The amount assigned was on top of the 4 book reports each kid had to do and any and all special reports that the teachers would assign during the week. Some nights it was midnight or better before they got to bed and they had to be up at 6 to get ready for school as their bus was here at 7. |

My oldest went from Straight A's in IL to Failing 4th grade do to the Bullying and the other crap. The Principals answer was your not trying hard enough. Excuse me but if your teachers would do their jobs instead of giving out 20 hours of work a week. Then maybe your School District might graduate more than 20% of all its students.

Have you checked on the "Common Core" situation in Illinois, ironeagle? What do you hear about what's going on here? 2 or more hours of homework a night?

Heck most are slow enough when they Graduate High School, they cant read worth a ..... and their math skills are way behind.... unreal, but they push them out the door anyway.
