they might build here but the likely location will be out by walmart. IDOT wouldn't give them a clearance for an exit on to route 23 before. then Fieldman wouldn't allow an exit in to his parking lot because of legalities.

Fieldman signed off on the Northpoint entrance years ago. Not an issue anymore.

Instead of a taco bell I would love to see a new business that is not retail that will employ around 50 people.
We need more jobs not more retail.

Taco Bell did not last the first time in Streator and I really don't see them lasting this time. There is the need to be more other types of jobs in this town in order to support what Streator already has. But it also does not help for jobs when you are able to shop on line and your needs can be delivered to your door. So as far as having a place to hire 50 employees will not happen because of the computers that are able to shop and also able to take jobs away from people doing hands on type situation jobs. But I also can see maybe having UPS deliver type service that could function in Streator due to people shopping online and having delivering service dropping products to your door.

Streator is not the only town where people order things and have them delivered to their doors and those towns still get businesses besides retail to locate there. There are businesses bringing 50 jobs to communities. You have to think bigger. Saying that a UPS type business could make it in just streator is crazy and shows you are thinking too all.

they won't last because their food is junk thrown together, i think it sucks, md's and burger king getting just as bad, smaller burgers no taste, like subway a few years ago when they switched their food suppliers.

If you read the article in Friday's paper, it doesn't say anything at all definitive about Taco Bell...According to the reporter, he couldn't even get them to call him back... That being said, the article made it perfectly clear that Fieldman can get by with raking in money off of a lease on an empty unit (K-Mart) that is the sole reason why Tractor Supply cannot move to Northpoint... Personally, I would like to see more retail options here in town...The ones we do have are not adequate for the entire community, which causes residents to take their shopping and tax dollars elsewhere... What happened to the strip mall that was supposed to be built north of WalMart?...What about the restaurant that was supposed to be built in WalMarts lot?... If the city doesn't address the poor business and economic climate in Streator, the city will continue its downward spiral...
