How much was minimum wage in 1938, 1940, 1970's? How many people were unemployed in those same years? What about the debt in the united states in those years?

How much did a loaf of bread cost back then? It is all relative. Doctors made $15,000.00/year in the 50's. Yet that amout of money would be considered poverty now.

Hate to say it Dave, but the way the average Doctor lived in the 50's would qualify them as poverty cases today. Of course all of us would qualify as poverty cases today, we didn't have cable TV, Air Conditioning, most of us shared a phone line, etc.........

Times has changed in a way. But in a way it has not. Back in the 30's 40's, 50's and now for what people earned people struggle to pay bills and what not.

It does not help having the dumacrats in the majority, and a ****** who caters to the non workers and fellow ******s. He and the party won the lowlife vote, it worked against Mitt. These lowlife have free food, housing, utilities, medical, and even cell phones. Something to think about!!

I can see why you chose 1938 since it was when the FLSA was enacted, but don't understand 1940, was there some big change in those two years?
minimum wage 1938 - .25, 1940 - .30, 1970 - 1.45, Today - 7.25 unemploy rate 1938 - 19.0, 1940 - 14.6(1.2in'44), 1970 - 4.9, Today - 6.5? national debt 1938 - 37B, 1940 - 43B, 1970 - 382B, Today - 17.3T
$1 in 1938 = $15.53 today In 1938, the average house cost about $7,000, car $500, and average wage was $1,243

Since I don't think there was even a state minimum wage in 1938, I was talking about Federal. I believe the Federal minimum wage is $7.25.

Here's a concept, instead of producing an arbitrary number for wages, how about we get back to manufacturing goods, where enough wealth can be created to allow a livable wage without the barrel of a gun providing it?
Hmmmmm?
