Just curious what myself thinks of this As long as MY Taxes don't go up I'm good with it. I'm sure Officer Turner will do a fine Job.

Just curious what myself thinks of this I don't know what to think about it. Are you asking what I think about the new position being created or my opinion of the person filling it? I am not sure how the new position changes anything. Will it somehow allow for better enforcement of our laws, will people start taking rides in police cars now? I don't know Deputy Chief Turner. Was he born and raised here with a lot of friends and family in the community? Does he feel that drinking, fighting, and urinating in our streets are acceptable? Does he want better for our community than the incidents that I see too often? I don't know any of these things about him. Should I know these things about the administrative organization and individual members of our police department? I doubt that anything I might have to say about any of those details would make any difference. It's not like those people answer to me; they should only be doing as directed and funded by others in our City's administration. Instead of worrying about those details, I just look at the end results and publicly hold our only elected officials accountable for what does or doesn't get accomplished. That is the best I can do.

They need to hire more police officers to replace the ones that moved up from patrolman to a ranking officers. All we have now is too many chiefs and not enough indians to patrol our city.

We need to stop discriminating against women who want to become officers here in this town. They have the right to become a cop in this town too,and tired of the political bs up there saying women don't belong in the police dept. We need women officers too on this police force.

Just curious what myself thinks of this What do you think about it? How do you see it changing anything here? I feel any department is only as good as its leader, so I guess we will have to see how he leads, if he makes them do the job they are there to do.

Women have to apply and pass the tests Rocket. There have been 2 females, both who didn't last long.

Out of curiosity, why not?
There use to be restrictions against full time female EMT'S in Streator due to "Lack of overnight accommodations."
Does this have any baring on Streator not having female Police Officers; it shouldn't?
Pontiac has at least "1" female Officer and she "Scared the b'jesus out of me" with a minor traffic violation. Maybe...... this IS what Streator is in need of?

You can't hire them if they don't apply.
