My point is, this is a $100 per COUPLE event, which is largely unaffordable to many people in town...If this was a "Black Tie" event, held at The Silver Fox, I could see paying that price...However, this appears to be a "casual dinner" that, IMHO, is over-priced for the community that it serves...

I am speaking for SDAB.......$50 may seem high, and yes not everyone can afford it. In striving to put on something different than selling hotdogs, or having a fish fry which is done by every group out there, this is what we came up with. This is our 7th dinner (i think that # is correct) In the past we have hired the chef from Bernardi's (twice), Cajon Rons, etc..These chefs and thier wonderful food do not come cheap. and 6 courses do not come cheap. We strive to provide a great meal in a quiet relaxed setting with great service. I cannot give enough accolades to the woodland and streator key club members who come every year to volunter! They are a great group of kids, and it has been wonderful to get to know a few of them that have come every year. If we charged less for the tickets, we wouldnt make anything. We do host a Haluski/Pork Chop dinner during the year. Costs are much less, but again, we pay alot out to get a little back. It isnt any different than any other fundraiser. By the time you buy 50/50 tickets, raffle tickets/ drinks/ the event ticket..You end of spending upwards of $100. But you know its for a GREAT CAUSE. This year we are raffleing a beatufil (ive seen it) painting by a local artist. You can get in the raffle without attending the dinner if anyone is interested. I will try to post a picture later. I know Ill be buying tickets for it! If you would like to help support Heritage Park please contact Jim.

The complainers do not need to go, it is their choice. Stay home and eat your condensed soup and dry melba toast. They probably are on some type of taxpayer subsidized support and will play the legalized gaming in town.
