Power went out here for a minute by James St.. not too worried here we have natural gas heater that does not need electric to run,we have solar back up for lights and generator if need be.

If you have a natural gas furnace( not one of those fireplace heater things that don't have to be vented) you should need power to run the blower unless of course you run the generator.

everyone should have a safe emergency heat source
the old bungalow i lived in years ago had a gravity heat system in it that you could manually control the gas operation and have heat with no power
also some systems operate with dual fuel such as wood / natural gas combo

we have a alternative heating system. my wife is a candle freak so I have enough candles to heat the house for weeks if we lose power.
