Tell that to all the employers that don't care and want their employees to show up to work no matter what. If a employee cannot get to work cause the roads are not plowed open, then they can kiss their job good bye. Cause they will be fired for not coming to work. Employers do not want to hear excuses why you cannot come to work. Either show up or your fired. Rocket, there are exceptions though, and also most everyone has a point system, are you that high on you're points?

When there is a lot of blowing and drifting streets fill back up fast. Add in a lot of traffic out on the streets pushing the snow across the streets and you could end up plowing the same street 4-5 times. Until the wind dies down its a losing battle. They need to go get some sleep and home back out around midnight. The state is closing a lot of roads due to drifting.

No, my place doesn't have the point system. However the boss doesn't care what your problem is. There is no excuse why you cannot make it to work. Show up or be fired.

Generally speaking, when there are travel advisories and road closures such as there are now, a boss would be an idiot to fire someone for not showing up for work...The labor board would certainly take issue with it because weather conditions are out of your control...
Hope everyone stays safe...

I am a little hot right now. I sat at my workplace for an hr and no one showed up. Called another employee that was on the list to work and was notified yesterday from the boss that no one is working today cause the boss couldn't get thru to come to work. Could of called me yesterday and told me. Instead of sitting there for an hr waiting for the people to show up to work. Anyway had another person tell me that the police are turning people back to Streator from 23 ,17 and 18. Where are the police sitting at? I went out all 4 directions on 18 and 23 to springlake road ,no one was there. Airport rd,no one was there ,over the overpass south of town no one is there. To Richards rd ,no one was there. So how far out of town are the police?
