Probably that apartment building where those trouble makers lived that caused trouble in the park.

This Hotel is the new business Streator has. It must have met all the regulations. Someone on here thinks Streator is not inviting new business to Streator.

It just sold. So my guess would be a B&B. Good location across from the park.

The Pros and Cons of Staying at a Bed and Breakfast Debi Rideout Debi Rideout, Yahoo Contributor Network Oct 20, 2010 "Share your voice on Yahoo websites. Start Here.". More: Bed and Breakfasts . Flag Post a comment Have you ever stayed at a bed and breakfast? It is a unique experience that I think everyone should try at least once. A bed and breakfast place can usually be found all over the world. It is a place where you pay money to be able to sleep at, and then you also get breakfast in the morning. That is why it is called a bed and breakfast. There are many pros and cons of staying at a bed and breakfast. Pros There are many pros to staying at a bed and breakfast. I would know. I have stayed in many bed and breakfasts all over the world. One of the pros of staying at a bed and breakfast is that usually the place you are staying at is the most charming and quaint place ever. I have stayed in huge Victorian homes that were made into a bed and breakfast, and I have even stayed in a bed and breakfast that actually was an English manor in England. Not only are the bed and breakfasts charming inside, but so are the grounds. This is fun for the person who likes the outdoors because there are usually lots of grounds to walk around. I think one of the most important things about spending the night at a place is that the beds are comfortable. I have never stayed at a bed and breakfast where the beds were not lush and beautiful. Many of the bed and breakfasts have canopy beds which make the whole room so much more enjoyable to be in. If you are looking for a romantic setting, then you may want to go to a bed and breakfast. Some even come with fireplaces and Jacuzzis. Many people go to a bed and breakfast for special time with their loved one. If you are a lover of food, you will want to stay at a bed and breakfast. Usually at the breakfast table you will find many kinds of homemade baked goodies to eat. Plus, if you are staying at a good bed and breakfast the cook will usually make any hot breakfast if you ask in advance. I enjoy staying at places that cook my food to order. I think that is a huge plus. Lastly, the one pro that I think makes a bed and breakfast different then other places you can stay at is the private attention you usually get from your host/hostess. The people who manage the bed and breakfast usually bend over backwards to make sure that you are happy. Many I have found are very talkative, and they have charming stories to share with you if you are willing to hear them. You really get great attention when you stay at a bed and breakfast. Cons Unfortunately, there are also cons for staying at a bed and breakfast too. For one, you may find that you have a lack of privacy. Some bed and breakfasts make you share a bathroom with other guests. You will also usually have to share your eating quarters with other guests. Which if you are not into chatty people, you may not enjoy bed and breakfasts. There might be guests that will want to talk to you non-stop, and all you are trying to do is enjoy your morning coffee. Plus, although a bed and breakfast can be romantic it may not be the best place actually for romance. Many bed and breakfasts have really thin walls. The guest next door to you may hear every single thing you are doing in your own room. If you do not care great, but if you do then you might want to stay somewhere where you can have more privacy. Usually a good bed and breakfast place will be costly. If you are looking for a cheaper place to sleep and eat a bed and breakfast may not be your best bet. However, if you travel to a bed and breakfast in "off season", your rates may be less than other places. Always try to book in advance because that is usually the only way you can get into a bed and breakfast. I think staying at a bed and breakfast depends really on what sort of experience you want when staying at a place. There are many pros and cons to staying at a bed and breakfast. voices.yahoo.com/the-pros-cons-staying-bed-breakfast-6999328.html

I have stayed at a lot of B&B,s. They all were comfortable and had their own bathrooms. VERY PRIVATE. For lunch or dinner, you can go to a local restaurant or send out for food. The Priory in Pittsburgh is great as is: www.thepriory.comThe Victorian Hotel in Vancouver Canada. www.victorianhotel.ca/index.php

It is my understanding that this home is a short-term (i.e. weekend, family reunion, class reunion, funeral, etc.) rental. NOT a B&B. More like a timeshare in that the stay is short and the amenities are provided (pots/pans/dishes/ etc. Washer, dryer. Dishwasher/ stove/ microwave, etc.) It is a nice alternative to what Streator currently provides for this purpose, and the central location is a nice plus.
You can argue the plusses/ minuses of such a place, but to my way of thinking it's an asset that Streator sorely needs.

This is definitely not a B&B. You do not share with others and the owner is not present during your stay. Toni has a caretaker who will live in a separate apartment upstairs who will maintain the property and be responsible for upkeep. But will not be providing meals, etc...This is for families or couples who would rather rent a house for short term stays for events such as weddings, funerals, baptisms or class reunions than staying at a local motel. And her rates seem very reasonable. Kudos to her for believing in Streator and taking the risk to do something different and thinking outside the box!

If anyone can make a business like this work, it will be Toni Pettit! I think her option for an overnight stay in Streator is a really good one. For what she is going to charge for an overnight stay ($150 for up to 4 people) is a great option a lot of people should consider when having friends or family visit rather than having them stay in your own home. She is investing a lot of time and money in this town and I think everyone should do what they can to support both her and our city instead of always being so negative about anything that someone tries to do.
