Looking for a good lawyer . As for your Subject (child support) then you ask for good lawyer? seem like you have some kind of (get back at him or her) meaning as your subject reads child support. your entitle to 28% of his or her pay(income) that's it! period! it don't matter how good of lawyer you get! Illinois State Law! 28% no more no less! if this person? is going to pay 28%, then why don't you also toss in 28% of your pay to take care of this child or children? to give the child or children a better life? most single parents spend it on what they want, and spend only some of it on the child or children. that's why you yourself should toss in 28%.

You're only partially right on the 28%, that's for 2 children... www.cadizlaw.com/library/how-much-child-support-am-i-entitled-to---must-i-pay-.cfmOnce the net income of the person who must pay child support is determined, guideline percentages are applied to calculate the amount of child support that must be paid. Most of the time these guidelines will determine the dollar amount, but guidelines are still only that- guidelines. They can be moved up or down depending on unusual circumstances. The percentage of net income that must be paid in child support depends on the number of children. In Illinois, the guidelines are currently as follows: Illinois Child Support Guidelines Number of Children Net Income Percentage to be Paid 1 20% 2 28% 3 32% 4 40% 5 45% 6 or more 50% I don't think that table is gonna turn out right but you get the idea I hope

You are both right about the percentages and the guidelines AND that sometimes the CS payments are not spent appropriately. Believe me, there has been more than one guy PO'd about the ex buying smokes and brews and who knows whatever else for some new live in BF on his dime that is supposed to be going for the kids. Be that as it may, the percentages are not always so easy to determine. Say for instance you work in a factory with wildly fluctuating overtime or layoff conditions. The court can factor in more than just 40 hr weeks, and again believe me a lot of guys have got burned trying to work a little extra to make some extra because of the loss of income for CS. Many have gotten burned because they will just take more money based on extra hours. Also, what if you come into some sort of lump sum payment, a financial windfall of some sort, an inheritance, workman's comp injury, even a Christmas Bonus. IS your ex entitled to a cut?....for the kids of course.... This exactly why they should reform the cs laws or straight out and abolish cs period. Cause all these people are doing is using their children as pawns to get money in their pockets and use it for themselves instead of the childrens well being.

How about putting these people in jail and revoke them from getting cs if they misuse that money for themself and friends, boyfriends, girl friends or new husband or wife and not for their children.

The last step always involves Lawyers, too bad the child suffers the worse.......... work things out (try) and if that does not work (try harder) and fighting around the kids is not good either. (TRY)

Rocket, you sound like all custodial parents misuse child support payments. Child support payments can to toward keeping a roof over the child(ren) heads, clothing, food, utilitiy bills (such as heat and water), use towards dr visits and medication. Maybe give the child a little allowance, pay for child care while the parent works. Am sure there are many other things I am forgetting at the moment...

In my opinion, Rocket is right on. Personal experience is the best lesson here. There needs to be accountability as to where the cs money is used. I know for a fact that less than 5% was used for actual cs in my case. Always was a taker and never a giver. But like any entitlement system, always subject to abuse.

The OP has asked for lawyer referals, not to hear personal war stories
