They will also be having a bake sale and selling popcorn (caramel corn/cheese popcorn) at the concert as well.
Students will be playing Christmas music at Kroger's on December 22nd from 1-5 pm.
It would be great to see the community come out and support our kids for the hard work they put in all year. As an SHS Band Alumni, it's important to me to see this program continue!
Please come out and help keep music in our schools!

Thanks BT and BandMom. We always have a problem knowing what time to get there in order to not miss the choir. Does the whole shebang begin at 7:00 this year, or is the choir before the band concert? I don't do FB so I didn't look at the page you suggested. Thank's. :-)

Sounds like a waste of time, eliminate the concerts and save the heating, that taxpayer is paying for. The bandshell up town, would be a better location than the grocery store. Who wants to dodge a bunch of snot nosed kids and and people gawking at them? The grocery store, is not a place for the annoying kids and bell ringers. I hope the management at the store forbades them to hinder customers.

Thank you, BT. Sorry, I missed the phone # the first time.:-) Hope to see you too. I think this will be year 6 that we've attended the band concert at Northlawn. It is always a good time.

You know, SOME people actually enjoy the music these students play and the bell ringers are collecting money for those that are "obviously" less fortunate than you. The outdoor bandshell is not a viable option for the kids to play at during the winter season. Instruments don't perform well during the cold conditions outside. And as far as eliminating the concerts to save on heating, should we also eliminate the basketball and volleyball games to "save the heating that the taxpayer is paying for?" Band concerts happen two or three times per year. Basketball games, volleyball games, practices, etc. take place several times a week. We pay ONE music director to teach at all of the local grade schools & parochial schools, as well as home schooled students that wish to participate. As of this year, that ONE music director is now also handling the junior high school choir as well. (PS---The high school music director has handled marching band, concert band, jazz band, beginning, AND advanced choir for years now.) So if you'd like to start taking away things that give our kids joy (be it music, arts, or sports), how about if we start with the sports for a change where we pay coaches, assistant coaches, trainers, and medical personnel, as well as paying for transportation to and from a heck of a lot more venues than we do for the music students.

What does it look like for band next year? I understand there will be MORE teachers sent packing, also.

Happy holidays to bm & "ja", the more staffing cuts the better . I could care less , if the bandshell venue is too cold. Pay for private lessons and quit fleecing the taxpayer, . I must say though, the football program is a disgrace, and should cease, while they are at the bottom of the barrel. Does the the new conference feature competition from the lowest calibre in the state? "Aim low- you will never be disappointed".

I think you're fun to read and believe that you don't believe a word of anything you type. You just like pulling people's chains for forum fun. There's at least one or two of you idiots on every forum I participate on. Keep posting and enjoying your anonymity.
