Students from SHS will be conducting their annual canned food drive tonight and tomorrow night from 6 p.m until 8 p.m. They will be going house to house the next two nights seeking canned food donations. I know they will be splitting up the areas to be covered over the next two nights, however, I personally do not have the info on what areas will be covered each night. Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide. Happy Holidays!

Taxpayer's are tired of all the requests for donations. Give to this, donate to that, we need more charity, this is what the holidays is being exploited as. The entitlements have to stop and birthing spawn, that is dependent on the welfare. Give them a quarter and hold it between their knees, that will keep the birthing machines from spitting out worthless and dependent spawn.

Thank you CitySlicker for reminding me of one of my all time favorite holiday stories. I think my favorite movie version starred Albert Finney and came out about 50 years ago. :-)
Thank you mt95 for the heads up, I'll get a bag ready and then if they come when we are home they won't have to wait for Granny to check dates and dig through the pantry!! I suppose we can drop it off somewhere if we miss the door knockers, right?

I am unsure of that Evaryman (drop off point, but last year it went to the Salvation Army), just posting for the club in general. Sorry I have no specifics, just wanted to get the word out there. Citysicker, I appreciate your opinion, but bashing on this forum I don't think is in good taste. Remember, these are high school students doing something positive and good. These are not thugs on the corner, doing damage to your property or the cities property, they are doing a service (agree with it or not). Just give them their props for a job well done. If you are not interesting in assisting, that is okay, then this forum was not directed toward you. Happy Holidays!

It would help if we knew where. Streator has a lot of streets. How many kids could cover that

We got a 'heads up' text message and our bag is now gone! It's surprising what one finds in the way of canned goods in the pantry these days. We rely so heavily on frozen that the canned stuff seemed strange, Eagle brand milk, evaporated milk, canned cranberry sauce (for use in recipes, as we make fresh for the celebrations), canned beans, a nice variety of those:-) canned oysters and canned sardines, (Mr.R. will be asking where those went). I wonder how all of that will be incorporated into the needs of the pantry, but they will surely find a use. I suppose if boxed and glass contained were being taken that would have made for a more well rounded sack of stuff!! Thanks again mt95 for the information.

My understanding is that nine (9) groups from the Key Club was visiting homes north of Main St. tonight, and tomorrow the crews will be concentrating on homes south of Main St. Obviously they will not be able to hit all neighborhoods but they are attempting to cover as much ground as possible. They will bring all items to the Salvation Army, so I believe this is where you could drop items off if the club members by chance miss your home. Thanks to all who assisted these wonderful students and thanks to all who will be assisting them tomorrow!

I donate through my forced local, state and federal taxes. The taxpayer has quit enabling the deadbeats, food stampers and spawn that abuse the working population. The n*gger we have in office now, just keeps making entitlements easier, for the lazy and system abusers. Now the fast food spawn wants a wage of 15 bucks an hour. No skills,no education, just give, give, give, we deserve. I would like to know, how many are up town now, scrarfing up the bounty, of wayward donaters.

And once more, the prize goes to C.S. for reminding us all of good old Charlie!! “Are there no prisons?” he asks. “Are there no workhouses?”
