It was a great time. The parade was wonderful and the crowd fantastic. If you did not go, you missed a really good time.

Many fine lighted displays and a lot of prep went in the parade. It is great to see the community come together. The only thing I would hope they organize a little better for next year, is the spacing of the parade entries. That was the only negative comments I heard that night. I couldn't believe the Silver Fox. They have done an awesome job and when it is finished it will be spectacular.

Parents should have kept the children out of the street, and maybe the gaps, would not have happened. Several times, the parade stopped in front of us, because the parents did not control their children.

I did not go to the Silver Fox, but it seemed to have had a good crowd from what I did see. Enjoyed the parade, but have to agree with dog, was the spacing of entries. And yes, the parents need to get better control over the children running into the streets. But the parade did draw a wonderful amount of people though.

Us older folks were talking about the Silver Fox and we were saying how nice it would be if they would open the bar possibly on a weekend basis if they don't have an event scheduled. It would be a nice quiet venue to sit and have a drink, converse with friends and maybe listen to a piano player.

There was an abandon Victorian home here in Columbus that when they demolished because it was beyond repair, a couple went to the auction and purchased a bunch of belongings. They then refurbished a downtown building with the belongings opening up a piano & jazz wine bar, using wines from local wineries. They also serve tapas and craft beers. I always thought that would be a nice little venture and alternatives for those who aren't into the typical sports bar scene. Something that would be unique and different in Streator.

Helen, there is a place , like you speak of. It is the P*nes. Patronize a local business and hang out with the elder generation. The new venue cannot support a couple of fogies, hanging around , soaking up the heat and a/c, sipping one drink , and griping about o-care. This venue needs to make money on rent and not the old fogie hangout scene.

I do go to the P*nes. I've had some good food there. Not tapas though. Do they have a NEW MENU?? I don't recall saying anything about a few fogies. Or any, for that matter. Maybe you were reading Dog's post.
