Have a contract for Transmission repair at Homebakers for 1,553.28. They went to junk yard and put used Tranmission in our truck. Transmission is not any good. They refused to make it right.
Filed with bbb. Homebaker after 24 days made a responce with bbb. Came back to me as a blank sheet of paper. We called bbb 3 times They looked it up said scan did not go though. We asked what homebakers response was. bbb responded we dont know we throw them away. We think Homebaker is scaming us? Anybody is just as good as there word. We toke our truck up to Homebaker in good faith and we got a junk Transmission. and Homebaker refuses to make it good.

In my opinion, take them to small claims court for your money back. I would trust Donahue's. Homebaker is known for that type of work.

My first question is, were you advised beforehand that they would be using "used" parts?...If so, did you agree to that in writing?...
With the expense involved in transmission repairs, some simply agree with whatever will get them back on the road in the least expensive manner...You can also check with the junkyard where they got the transmission to see "if" they offer a warranty, but I highly doubt it...
That being said, if you did not agree to having a "used" transmission installed, then you should pursue this through small claims court...Generally, when it comes to the BBB, if the company the complaint is filed against isn't a member of the BBB, they won't give it the time of day...I would also look into whether they are members of the ASA, and other automotive organizations, and file complaints there as well...

It does not matter if they agreed to do the work and bought a used transmission, used transmissions also come with warranty even if it came from a Salvage yard. Call the Attorney General Lisa Madigan and tell them what has happened. I have done this with a Siding Company whom would not return my calls and just tried to ignore the problem, well the problem went away when the Attorney General informed them that they will fix it.If you can find out where he purchased the transmission contact that party and see what their warranty/return policy is.I'm sure what the problem is as it is when you buy NEW parts it is a PIA to redo all the work that you just done because of mechanical failure.

You should have a 24/ 48 hour warranty on the transmission, because they can not sell you a bad one that doesn't work, better draw up some papers on this one.

I would be sure before I posted the name of a business and accused them of wrongdoing. Lawyers bite both ways.

FOT is correct. Be careful on mentioning names, because they could also go after you for slander. Granted two wrongs don't make a right. But now a days wording can bite yeah in the neck.

If u read real close to what I wrote. Its not slander. This is just what happened to us. We told them a month ago we would put this on here. They had nothing to say. We payed in full the full amount and it was never right from the begining.
I would hope u would not pay that amount and get nothing for it. Ordinally I dont post names on here but this is not the way to handle bussiness.

my question is, did they refill the torque convertor and spin it on the transmission to get all the gears. If they didn't do that then there isn't any gears for the truck to into when its in drive.
I bet they just put the transmission on and just bolted it up and all that, or didn't put the fly wheel-to torque convertor bolts in. and did they drain out the oil fluid in the convertor put new fluid in, and the same for the transmission.
I always trust Donahue's

When u take off u have to come to a complete stop put it in park wait a min. than put it back in drive. Its also leaking tranmission fluid.

We toke it back right away told them it was not right and they put core charge, core credit, rotor, distributor cap another 383.69. It still not right like I said above. Left the truck a 3 time. Seen it sitting along the curb, ask if it was done They said nothing wrong with it.

$1500 sounds about right for a USED transmission. Would have been alot more for a NEW one. Jim & Theresa are both on the up n up, I cant imagine them scamming anyone.

That is a valid point, however putting a good used unit in is the responsibility of the mechanic. I am not going one way or the other on this one without much more information, today's all electronic transmissions can still be good and not operate properly ( wiring, computer, etc. ).
One thing for sure is I know both, and neither side is one who I would characterize as dishonest.

Jim & His wife are good people, maybe let Him drive it then make His decision of what is wrong with it.
