I agree with you on that jimb. I wish I lived in Mexico year round my old body cant handle this cold like it did when I was younger. I don't mind it so much if the winds not blowing. But its been a while since we had a real winter. And this is starting to feel a whole lot like one.

Not worried about the snow tonight cause only showing an inch or less over Streator and 2-4 north of the i80 corridor. Saturday is the one that needs to be watched. That one sounds like it maybe a big snow producer according to tom skilling from wgn news.

we can get either sleet or freezing rain or both depending on when the temps drop?
the ground is so cold that even if the air temp is above freezing the ground will freeze anything that lands on it

Dr. Greg Forbes Both American and European computer models are predicting a significant weather system on Dec 20 and 21 that could have both winter weather and severe thunderstorms. It's too early for details, but keep watching The Weather Channel, Weather.Com, and any of your other sources for details as the event nears. www.facebook.com/twcdrforbes

rocket: The weather predictors, cannot even forecast a short distance in the future, let alone,10 days. They are just being vague and justifying their jobs. I understand it to be dark and then a chance of sunlight, in 9 or 10 days. My forecast has a great chance of occurring.

Looks like the big snow that got bumped up to Friday night into Saturday will pass south of our area dumping the big snows south of I 74 and giving us another chance at 1-3" of new snow due to being on the northern edge of this storm. Areas north of I 80 may only see 1-2".
