When did suicide become the norm, everytime I turn around someone has committed suicide. How do we stop this epidemic! Unfortunately life is a pretty tough game for many people to play.. Some hide behind alcohol or drugs, and some just choose to opt out altogether... As for stopping it,,if you know they're having problems,If they will accept it try to get them help.. Many times friends and family have no idea anythings wrong in which case there is really nothing anyone could have done..

JimB you explained it excellently, what is "the norm" normal to one is not normal to another, people who get on public forum's being derogatory about LIFE and DEATH issues, really ?
Here we go its the DRUGS its the ALCOHOL........ OPEN your eye's it is SOCIETY!!!!!!!!!!!! You have NO idea what is going on in someone's head or in their life, you may sit back and say why didn't someone help. LISTEN until it actually happens YOU do not know what someone is going thru or thinking!!!!!!
This thread should never exist. THIS PERSON,SON,DAUGHTER,FATHER, MOTHER,GRANDPARENT,BROTHER,UNCLE,AUNT,it is NOT I REPEAT NOT your business..............................

Well it has happened to me more times then I would wish on anybody! The point of the thread is someone usually knows things are not going well and there is NOTHING that can be done, my best friend tried to kill herself was put into the hospital they released her within 24 hours with a handful of prescriptions as we begged them to not let her go yet, well guess what 3 months later she finished the job! This thread was not started with a judgemental undertone, it was started to say things need to change and what can we do as a society to make that happen?

Well, I really don't know. My Grandfather was in his 80's and he shot himself with his hunting rifle. He had cancer of the prostate, heart pacer, old age health problems.

Depression is a sickness. It's no different than cancer. People who suffer from depression and decide their fate aren't thinking of others when they take this action. The person who does this is not selfish, they are just not themselves because they suffer from such a horrible sickness called depression.

No it is my business, keep trying to hide the fact that someone you love committed suicide, THAT is the problem, we can't fix the problem that we don't ackknowledge. When it happens it is all hush hush, because it is all judgemental, people say "what could be so bad" who knows what could be so bad" but us as friends, sisters, brothers, moms and dads, kids and friends new something was not good, but there was nothing that you could do. So you saying not to talk about it is part of the problem

So you saying not to talk about it is part of the problem I had a friend who recently decided he didn't want to live. Its been horrible for a lot of people. I talked to him the day he did it and we were to get together for dinner later in the week. Sure he was having issues in the immediate past, but nothing that would have made anyone think that he would do what he did Now, were all left asking why and hurting. Its really, really hard. It just takes time. I want to call him or text him then realize I can't. I get pissed then I get sad then I laugh about something stupid we did as kids. Bottom line is my friend was sick. His troubles were nothing compared to the next guy, but to my friend they were too much to overcome. I loved him as one of my best friends and I will always miss him.
