Remember the inside of Penney's when it was downtown? Three floors if I remember correctly?
I always remember the Big Bird that was right next to the stairs. If I remember, didn't that building have an elevator???

I remember that little tiny diner down near Time Out. It was very very small. I think it just had a lunch counter and it was no more then about 6 stools. I think the name of the place inside the Plumb was the Colony Room. The dining room at Bowl-mor was the Lamp Light room I think. We used to go for the buffet lunch Sundays at Streator Lanes once in a while too. Speaking of Buffets, Vic and Ethel's out at the Katydid corner East of town. Who else had a Smorgasboard back in the day? I loved Vic and Ethel's! The Plumb restaurant was named the Colonial Room. We used to go to Streator Lanes and I remember the Lamp Light room How about the beer garden that the Bowl Mor had in summer? Go and see some live music, kick back some suds and be outside...

I miss Buelers Market where we'd get Polish ham, and then slap that on some bucket bread from the Harvest Bakery, and Dutches hot beef sandwiches............ yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm !!! M

Then there was also the pet store out north. I think that was Pete's Pet Shop? Two pet stores in Streator back in the day!! lol Then, you could buy fish at T G & Y!

It was out north where Cigarette Express is now, which is right next to Dairy Queen.

Ya know I do not for the life of me remember any pet shop on that corner.... hmmm, jar my memory with a name perhaps? Awww poor Peter he lived for that pet shop...to bad he didn't really clean that place though, it really smelled bad in there. I remember buying gold fish at not only TG&Y, but Hornsby's and Murphy's where they put the fish in little Chinese takeout boxes. And.......as cruel as this truly was...Murphy's would have the dyed bunnies and chicks right at the front door during Easter time. So glad that practice was outlawed! M

That is about the location of the old 'Cheese store'. My buddies would go there to obtain adult beverages before we were quite considered 'Adult'. What was the old cheese store by? I don't seem to remember that place?

M The pet shop was right where the asphalt parking lot is now. It was more like a converted home than an actual business type building.
