A week after a Grundy County woman filed a lawsuit against the La Salle County Sheriff's Office for being stripped search following a DUI arrest, the Sheriff's lawyers have given their side of the story. According to a written statement from Itasca-based lawyer Jim Sotos, Dana Holmes was placed into a padded cell and given a tear-proof safe suit and blanket for her own safety after she was stripped of her clothes. Sotos said this was following procedure set by both Illinois and federal law. Sotos also claims that the video shown of the jail cell is so deputies can make sure that inmates are not harming themselves while in custody. If i am not mistaken, a strip search is supposed to be done by an officer of the same sex. It's pretty clear cut that that procedure was not followed by what i seen on the video. About all I can say about this is "YOU FRIGGIN IDIOTS!!!! So now the tax payers will be paying for these crooks. These sumbeeches need to be fired. And if she hasn't done it already, this woman needs to bring the ACLU into this.

As far as the video camera in the cell, Sotos asserted no deputies not involved with Holmes saw her nude on video.I like how They worded it. "no deputies not involved with Holmes saw her nude on video"
NO the WHOLE WORLD saw a blurred out version of Her as They RIPPED OFF HER CLOTHES.

I think there is more to the story than the edited video we saw. I'm going to reserve my final judgement for when all of the facts come in at trial. However, this is my opinion as it stands now. She was not strip searched. She was stripped of her clothing because she was being placed in a padded room. There is a huge difference. You don't get taken down and placed in a padded room with your clothes off if you are being cooperative. What would be the reason? The deputies don't want trouble. Few law enforcement officers do, they want a nice peaceful night. Since there was no audio nobody knows what she said or inferred. There would have to be a reason for the officers to take her down. Yes, there can be the occasional bad apple in law enforcement, but not three snapping at the same time because they want to fight. It just doesn't happen. It's protocol to take their clothing if they are being placed in a padded room. She was given a blanket and a safe suit. The video we saw was edited and there is no audio. Had she been cooperative she would have been placed in a regular cell with her clothes on to be bailed out by a family member later.

Gee had the woman not committed a crime this never would've happened to her. I am so tired of the criminals wah wahing that they weren't treated properly. Gee whiz you fvcking idiots don't screw up and nothing will happen to you. Its not like this woman walked in off the streets and they stuck her in a cell and did all this to her, she committed a crime, the deputies/jailers did their jobs, so what if she was humiliated, had she not put herself in the position for this to happen all would've been good.

And for those of us who have been law abiding citizens and have not ever been arrested, we've watched enough crime dramas to know when they tell you to place your hands against the wall to be searched you don't place your back to the wall with your hands up in the air. That's telling right there that she was uncooperative.

Just because she broke the law it didn't give them the right to break a law as well. Yes she was stripped to be put into a padded room cause of fear of inflicting harm to herself like procedure says. HOWEVER procedure also says that only officer's of the same sex can strip search the person. Hence, the broke the law and are also equally in the wrong.

just a question for the ones that sanction these officers actions..........what if this was your daughter this happened to? whether this young lady was combatant or not she shouldn't have been stripped of her rights as a human.
