I worked today scrapping the loose paint off the architectural trim on the east side of my building, getting ready to paint it a bold green.
Since so many people enjoy criticizing just about everything I do, I figured we might as well just get it out in the open now.
There is no sense in trying to convince anyone that I am doing the work to make my building look better or to save the historic looking trim that seems to be the same as in a photo that have from the thirties.
It won't matter that it is the color of the trim on the front of my building that I selected years before the City started pushing their subtle, neutral earth tone color agenda.
Not that it would matter what color I painted it though, the architectural detail from the thirties probably won't fit the design criteria requirements the City has in mind to provide the "continuity" they think we need so much, and someone won't like it.
Some people will only see my attempts at improving my building as me "pushing buttons" and trying to "get a rise" from the City.
If just doing what I want that is within our laws pushes so many buttons and gets such a rise from their cheer leading squad, it makes me wonder what I could do if that were actually my goal.
I start laughing when I think of some of the possibilities.
