Anyone know anything about Direct Energy? I just had someone knock at my door saying I was switching over from Ameren and she needed to check things out? I have no clue what this woman is talking about. I told her I would have to talk to my landlord and I wasn't going to bother him on a weekend. I told her to come back on Monday. I remember getting something in the mail but I figure that stuff is a scam.

In IL you can Chose who you BUY the power from any company you choose. I know I had Direct Energy at 1/2 the Price per KWH than Comed in Streator. Com Ed Still delivers it and bills you however they only get the money for the lines and Poles needed to get the power to YOU. Direct Energy is the one your getting the Power From. It cut my power bill in half compared to Com Ed and their Prices and Direct Energy will lock you in at a set price for 1 year at a time.

I just checked with BBB and this company has an F rating. Lots and lots of complaints. They have a FB page with nothing but complaints. I think I'll pass. This lady made it sound like I had signed up for it already. They'd better not try to play that game. I hope she comes back on Monday.

What worries me is she acted like I had already switched. I'm going to call Ameren on Monday and make sure nothing gets switched.

they have a terrible history of fraudulent practices. They have had door to door reps sign people up who said no and discover it a month or two later when they start getting bills. Of course the company will say they don't condone that, they just blame their sales people that they let continue working for them. Also, don't let the locking in at a lower price fool you either. Their "lower price" isn't lower all year. Natural gas prices fluctuate and when it goes down lower than the locked price, you are out of luck getting it cheaper. stay away from them.

I know some people who switched from Ameren Electric to Direct Energy. When they received their bill they were very shocked to realize their bill had increased significantly after they had been told it would be cheaper with Direct Energy.

She didn't come back today or if she did, I wasn't home. I forgot to call Ameren today. They can't switch me with no signature can they?

Yes a verbal would be good enough. But first call the other un-(reputable) business and tell them that you did not sign up with them (very important) also a call to the better business would be in order.
