I liked Jack Brickhouse, or "Brickhead" as we sometimes called him. Sure he was a homer but I'd take him any day over "He gone". During rain delays he could tell stories forever and you'd never hear the same one twice. Steve Stone was better than Carey anyway.

We "discovered" Carey when the local cable industry came to our house. WGN was a superstation like TBS & another station in NYC. My wife was home having babies and she loved to watch the Cubs & Harry Carey. She even got a scorebook to follow the games. Mom is STILL a BIG CUBs fan. I swear that a couple of games that I watched him, he was a bit tipsy toward the end of the game. He was a Bud Man. Lived to be about 84 yrs old. Had a minor stroke that year and had trouble remembering the first names of some players.

Don't get me started on the 1969 Cubs & the "Great Collapse" in September. Wrigley was so mad he sold off as many players as he could. Santo was one, maybe Fergie?..... Jack spent many a day broadcasting a game that no one wanted to come to the ball park to SEE. TV was doing this to baseball a lot back then to a lot of teams. Bad attendance those years.

Forgot the peanut farmer. He is a much better peace keeper/negotiator now. I think Carter had kept out of politics for a long time.

He was also one of the most intelligent, ethical and genuine Presidents we have had in a long, long time. Unfortunately he was very ineffective at getting things done. Perhaps a problem in being a Washington outsider. I would vote for a candidate like him again in a heart beat. If you are measuring the Man, President Carter weighs in huge, really huge, too bad his Presidency didn't measure up. Looking back, he has been probably the most moral, decent person to ever hold the office. But I agree, his presidency was not all that memorable.

This president got stuck in the White House tub & had to be pried out. They installed a much bigger tub after that. Who?

I'm guessing Taft just because I think that's who is on one of the Monopoly cards.

Yes I had Taft in mind. BUT! It may just be a myth as I just read an article about it on a trivia site.
"Did Taft really get stuck in a bathtub? First, there’s the biggest Taft myth—that he really got stuck in the White House bathtub. Is it true? Maybe.
Most reports of the incident come from two sources: My Thirty Years Backstairs At The White House, by maid Lillian Rogers Parks, and 42 Years in the White House, by butler and usher Ike Hoover. According to Ray Henderson, a Taft historian, they’re the only source for the bathtub myth."
