I never, ever heard of Roy Foster, but when I was in the military I didn't pay much attention to the major leagues. Fosse played a long time in the majors though.

I think Fosse's glory days were w/ Ray Crock's A's in the early 70's. THAT was a team. I can think of possibly several players who eventually made it to the HOF off those Oakland teams.

Ray Croc had San Diego and Chuck Finley had the Oakland Athletics Dave. Reggie Jackson, Rollie Fingers and Jim "Catfish" Hunter are three that I can think of getting in. Can't recall anybody else, but they sure were good as a team.

Forgot all about him Dave. He was a starter for a long time before he became a closer. I'm not sure I would have put him in the hall though. Lee Smith was prettyi darn good, I think better than Eckersley.

I think in the early '70's that entire starting lineup made the all star team. Think that's when fan voting started. During his career with the Reds, Pete Rose was an all star at 3rd, 2nd, 1st, LF and RF. After all the nonsense that's gone wrong with baseball, in my opinion that old rule about gambling shouldn't have gotten him kicked out of baseball. I wish a commissioner would have the balls to forgive and reinstate him to baseball. That's what he lived for and now at his age he doesn't have that many years to go.

He is a jerk and still is a jerk. But he was a whale of a baseball player and a joy to watch. He should be in the HOF.

I've read several books on Pete Rose. Yes, he comes off as a jerk but the more you understand his upbringing he's easier to understand. He busted hisassevery single play and that included running Fosse over. Fosse did block the plate and that's in every replay from every angle. No place to go for a guy like Rose. He was tough as they come and he was paid to win and that he did more than any player in history. If only he had came clean, but when you know you're caught I think most people would lie until the sheep came home. But MM, they'd have thrown him out of the hall once they proved him gambling. Look what USC did with OJ's Heisman trophy, and although he probably was guilty in most people's minds, he was found not guilty. Just saying.

What record would that be Dave, haven't heard that one. I kind of think you really can't stand Pete Rose can you? lmao The one I could never like was Larry Bowa. I always thought he was a jerk.

Ron Kittle and Bill Melton. Guessing cause I'm not a Sox fan. I think Richie Allen could be in there too.

He created the EXPLODING SCOREBOARD at Sox Park. Now it is a fixture for this team. I think he spent his last years as the owner of the St Paul Saints. It is possible his children are still running it. Bill Veeck was just an amazing promoter and owner. Now. Which family had four generations involved in running baseball teams?
