I prefer The Devil's Bowl in Mesquite,Tx. where the world of outlaws run. I could hear them from my old house. But after going there a lot over the years, the whole thing gets to be a bit boring. Round and round they go and I am ready to fall asleep in the stands at 10 PM. LOL. I guess I am not much of a fan.

The 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 will take place in May of 2016. I intend to be there since this is a monumental milestone and it is only 3 hours away.
The Indianapolis 500 is the largest 1 day sporting event in the World, and has held that distinction for a very long time. They can put between 250,000 and 300,000 people in permanent seats and there are thousands more people in the infield. Indianapolis Motor Speedway is on the National Register of Historic Places. The 2 1/2 mile track is known as a rectangular oval with 4 distinct turns. It was originally built in 1909-1910 and was an oil and crushed rock surface. That surface wasn't safe and didn't hold up so the racing surface was paved with 3.2 million paving brick (thus the nickname "Brickyard") which have now been paved over accept for a strip 1 yard, or 3 feet wide, at the start finish line known as "The Yard of Bricks", another play on the term brickyard.
As was mentioned previously, there is a museum in the infield on the South end of the track. Whether you are a racing fan or not this museum is worth the time and admission fee to look through. They have displays that cover over 100 years and 97 Indy 500's at the track. You could put Vatican City, Wimbledon, Churchill Downs where the Kentucky Derby is run, the Roman coliseum, Yankee Stadium and The Rose Bowl in the infield of Indianapolis Motor Speedway with room to spare.
Despite it huge seating capacity and expanse Indy is one of the cleanest and well kept sporting venues you will ever see. There is an 18 hole golf course that has 4 holes in the infield of the racetrack and the other 12 just off the backstretch. The infield has the beauty and elegance of a finely maintained park with beautiful trees and flower gardens in abundance.

This baseball team started out as the Sioux City Cornhuskers and played in the Western League. In 1894 it was transferred to Minnesota and became the Saint Paul Saints. In 1900 , it was transferred again technically as a minor league team under the rules of the National league. We have known it as an American league team ever since. Which team am I?

dog. you are soo correct. I came across this question on Jeopardy yesterday. They took on the name that the Cubs let drop and called themselves the Chicago White Stockings. Then they just shorted it to White Sox.

A buddy of mine came here to visit and we went to Cali's on Main St. I think it is a great old fashion "Chicago" style bar. He turned to me and said it was a Cubs bar (He was born and raised on the southside and is a SOX fan.) He was right. Nothing but Cubs posters. So next time he was in town I took him to my neighborhood bar. Long story short. It turned out to be a Cubs bar too.LOL Next time I am in Tinley Park w/him at a bar, I'll know it will be a SOX bar.

The first World Series Championship ring had one diamond in it. It was presented to the New York Giants. Who did they beat and what year did this happen? (I got this from Pawn Stars on TV.)

Not the A's but you are in the right time frame by mentioning the Senators and the great Walter Johnson.

That is not the team they beat in the WS. But it did happen in the 1920's.

The first World Series ring was given to members of the New York Giants after winning the 1922 World Series over the NY Yankees in six games. They won 5 games and there was one tie. From now on, the WS would be seven games.
