LaSalle County tops the area, with a 10.4 jobless rate. We should give thanks to the democrats puppets for passing a high tax burden on businesses . The puppet from Peru, should be ashamed of himself and the party , he hails from. The rate will only go up, until, the shopping season starts and people scarf up those lowly jobs.

I have no party affiliation, I vote for the best of the worst, if election rules allow. Both major parties are responsible for the pension fiasco. As Ross implied, the giant sucking sound is jobs leaving America. That was around 1992.

It was on the news last night that a builder/contractor is only building 1 or 2 homes a week, instead of 3-4, BECAUSE there's a lack of qualified contractors, such as Plumbers, electricians etc ... because many lost jobs & have gone elsewhere! So, young people need TO get training for them, as they're needed!

Tjsrxpilot, the jobless rate in La Salle County has very little to do with who is or was in the White House. It has more to do with who's in the governor's seat in Springfield. Since Jim Edgar, a Republican by the way, left office and he was succeeded by two very inept Democrat governors (Blago, and Quinn) our state has been in a tail spin. Remember a few years ago the Dems promised us that if we raised the state income tax by 66% it would cure all of our financial worries. Since then we've made a mad dash to the top of the list of financially strapped states. Businesses are tripping over themselves trying to leave this state. And they're taking all of jobs with them. But according to you tax and spend liberals, it's all George Bush's fault.

You're right I did forget to mention George Ryan. He was and still is a crook. But it doesn't change what I was trying to say. This state has been in a financial decline since Edgar left office. Ryan was bad for the state, not because of his financial policies of taxing everyone to the brink of bankruptcy, but because of his lack of ethics. Blago, Quinn and Madigan have run this state into the ground because of their policies. Quinn won the last election even though he lost in 99 of the 102 counties in Illinois. He won only three counties. This state will always go with however Chicago votes. And again you go back to the Presidential elections. You Dems are too blind to see that Illinois' problems are with our taxing policies not with Washington!! Low information voters like you are why we are in the condition we're in.
