An example of pure class that will be long remembered by anyone who was there or who saw the photos in the paper. When people choose to deride the town and its kids, they should be reminded of this incident.

Thanks for posting this. Both of my children & my husband had posted this on facebook, & when I got home from the games @ Woidland I hoped to copy & paste the whole thing here! I believe some folks have forgotten, or possibly never knew, the more important realities of why we train young people to work as a team, via sports participation. This was the best news I've read in a very long time, & the answer to "Why a sports program?"

These young gentlemen are an inspiration and an example of what a sports program does for kids/young adults. It instill sand teaches teamwork, a never quit attitude, and long lasting friendships and memories. Don't get me wrong, winning is fun but it isn't everything, IMO our teams on a regular basis show this, they may not win a lot of games, meets, matches, etc., but yet they are out there just the same day in and day out, week in and week out giving their all and trying to achieve a goal and have a good time doing it all the while learning some life lessons.
So to these 3 young men I say to you job well done, you didn't leave a teammate behind, didn't let his situation affect your judgment to pass him up and finish better, as well as the fact you have also represented yourselves, your team, your parents, and your town in a very good light and left a good impression of yourselves and your team in many minds.

Compassion and team work really sums this article up, if you ask me they did finish in first place in style, although they in reality places third.

This is why sports are so important. It is more about teamwork, committment and making friends than the win. I am so proud of this team.

These kids probalably , have parents that instill remarkable virtue in them. Hats off to great role models. The sports programs cannot take, all the credit.

As a grandmother of a child with seizure disorder, this story made me cry so hard, that the type was distorted with my tears. These boys have been raised right. they don't see the differences, but the similarities that they share. adults should take a lesson from them.
