I must say that I love my hometown. I love watching the seasons here and see all the color changes. Green in planting season, beautiful rich colors in the fall, and "sometimes" very white winters. Our park looks absolutely beautiful and I enjoy that we have the river walk and the canoe launch to enjoy our rivers. Not to mention our own little special waterfall out and Marilla Park. We have a lot of people here in town that go out of their way to help others because we are a helping community no matter what other's might think. We have an AMAZING fire and police department even if they don't get the credit due to them like they deserve at times. Not to mention our community is very oriented towards helping the elderly. I love going around on the Holidays and seeing everyone having their little decorations contests. Not to mention light up Streator! It get's more and more beautiful every year. This IS my hometown and I must say that I'm PROUD to be a StreatorRite! It makes me sick to my stomach constantly reading this site turn into a bash of my hometown. That is NOT what this site is about! We have many many great things about Streator! So tired of just reading about the negatives. So please people, keep this thread going on positives that you love about our town!

I agree that there are many positives here. You mentioned many that I like as well. The park does look beautiful, they are doing a good job of keeping everything watered.

EC&T's Mommy thanks for that posting.......We do have a lot of things to be thankful for that shouldn't be taken for granted, which is easy to do. So let's be thankful for what we have and try to hold on to it forever if possible , but to also have the hunger to forge ahead where we haven't been before......

J, it's wonderful that spring lake has become a backdrop for many photo sessions. Family portraits, prom pics are shared all over fb.
We used to canoe all the time. It was a great way to spend the day. I have not been to the canoe launch in awhile. Thanks for the reminder!

I love it being a baseball town!!!! And I love my neighborhood. Yes, we have a few trouble makers, but all in all, my neighborhood rocks. Habitat is just about done w/ new house across street, so soon,I will have new neighbors.

Oh yes Helen, Sat if all goes as planned we might be going to Spring Lake as well for Family Photos. This one is an odd one. But I love seeing the beaver over by the underpass lol. Has anybody else seen him over by the wooded area? I love seeing all the wild life around here. I've done my fair share of moving and none of the places where the same as home.

I have been thinking about going through them on several occasions. =)

I always thought it would be neat to volunteer for things like that. I love to build and make houses look awesome. Currently working on this one. First is the inside then I hope to get the outside fixed so it doesn't look so run down. Not to mention your helping people out in the process and you could learn oh so much. I didn't realize they did that here in the area.

Spring Lake is my favorite place. They are working so hard out there to make things beautiful again after the flood.
