I have been meaning to ask this for a while.
We have noticed that when we walk through the grass in our yard and the neighbors that we have an orange residue/dust/powder on our shoes and that the push mower we use that isn't washed after every use has the same thing all over it. It almost seems as the push mower is rusting very bad.
The only thing that both our yards have in common is that they are both treated by S.ing Green and we contacted them and they said they never had any such problem with this type of accurance anywhere else and that all there chemicals are safe. (I AM SURE LOL)
What I was wondering is if anyone else has had their lawn treated or not and has noticed anything like what I have mentioned on there shoe's/feet or lawn mower.
This has been going on for two years and just wondering if this is happening elsewhere.

Yep...my daughter lil M informed me that it was a fungus, and not uncommon. Anyone ever watch the show "Joe Rogan Questions Everything"? Now, that show can make one think about "strange" things...................... Oiy! M

I would think w/what Spring Green charges, they would include some kind of anti-fungal stuff in that spray!

OH GOD, avoid that SPRING GREEN crap, seriously! A neighbor of mine had that service and went to put some of her porch house plants out off of her porch after a rain down by where they'd sprayed, and literally burned her FEET because of! M

Thanks for an actual worthwhile question! I deliver 225 papers a day and I notice this "orange gunk" (as I cal it!) after walking through certain yards as well. I asked someone and he suggested, because my tennis shoes were fairly new, that it may be because of the "tanning process" they use in making of leather shoes. That explanation seemed reasonable enough to me, so I stopped thinking about it, until you posted that it was on your mower as well. So thanks! And thanks to BlueStar (and someone else, I think) for posting the answer. Nice to come on SO and read something other than a Kyle bashing, for once.

Possibly the lawn was over fertilized. I did this one year. My shoes were orange as well. It took the whole year to run it's course. It is best not to fertilize your yard in the summer with no rain.

There also maybe other reasons to helen,, I had a pile build up in my air filter (meaning a lot) so I'm sure the chemicals are from other things too...... I don't need too google common sense, do you? are you a french model? lol
