Just noticed that this chain grocery store is not doubling coupons. Must be a corporate decision, that will benefit, their stockholders. Wally world must not be much of a competitor, for them to do this. K*roger stock down $.18 a share.

I have become a fan of ALDIS, but I still have to get things that only Kroger carries.

Also, if you find coupons & have downloaded an E-C from Krogers, for the same product,be sure TO take it OFF your card! The register will auto. use the EC, even *IF* it's for LESS than the one you have in-hand!

I don't think this is limited to just Kroger. Many stores are ending their "double coupon" promo's. Both the Giant Eagle and Kroger stores out here have eliminated the double coupon program in favor of offering a larger discount on your fuel card.
A friend of mine who works in marketing for a Kroger district office was telling me that coupons just are not as valuable as they were back in the day, and as such most grocery stores have seen a decline in their usage, it is no longer profitable for them to continue a double coupon program. For example, where there use to be a coupon for say $1.50 off a bottle of laundry detergent, it is now $.75 off of two or three bottles.
To me personally, it's not worth spending the extra $10-$12 to save $.25 off each bottle.

Between that and the IDIOTS that super Coupon aka show up and try to get 400 Bucks worth of Stuff for Free all with Coupons. Why because they used the Sales and then Coupons to force stores to give them Mega Quanities of stuff for FREE. Called a couple of people ruined it for all.

Humm,
Just wondering, which Corporation pays their employee's better, and treat's them better.
Let me think.
Which will help Streator residents more?
Paying a few pennies more at Kroger, so our neighbors can do better, or putting a few pennies more in our pocket so Walmart employees can make less.
Sorry, I hope Walmart employees have the opportunity to make more and not at the expense of Kroger employees.
Both Companies employ our neighbors and I hope their wages increase in the future.
They certainly make the Corporations Megabucks.

I am a little disappointed in the price hike at Kroger. Its my main shopping place because we buy a lot of Organic food that you cant get at Aldis. What used to cost me $80/week now is costing me $120-$150/week. I took a handful of coupons with me today and still spent $120. Its frustrating when you are trying to eat healthy and work within a budget.

They stopped several weeks ago and started "everyday low prices". I noticed they jacked up prices and then lowered them to a few cents higher than the original. They are now offering ecoupon specials instead including freebie Fridays. It's unfortunate. I used to spend $800-1300 a month in there. The overall shadiness of the pricing and hassle of ecoupons that rarely work has made me spend condiserably less. I'm under $300 for August. No skin off my teeth. There are plenty of grocery stores and we won't go hungry. The ecoupon thing works for me. You just have to have the time and patience to look through the ad and see whats on sale and then load the right coupons onto your card. Last week I went there and spent 67$ and saved $52. Was there this morning and spent $49 and saved $41. I felt like I got some pretty good deals! But thats just me! I feel that it is easier than clipping coupons and keeping track of when they expire ect....Between the 2 times I used ecoupons I only had 1 paper coupon.

While I understand Mega couponers has hindered a lot of doubling, I've seen many that give away their "Stash" to people in need @ disasters etc...
That being said, I don't Mega shop, but was able to stock up on things TO take several laundry baskets of things posted & needed, by the Salvation Army for our own citizens HERE in town, after the tornado, immediately!

Since I have moved over here to LaSalle, I am loving Hy-Vee. They have anything you could want and the employees are super friendly. They actually treat you like a customer.

I've never had a problem at kroger. Every time ive asked for assistance, its been prompt and courteous. Recently, we were taking my granddaughter camping. we couldnt find our long campfire forks, to roast dogs, n toast marshmallows. I asked the first person I saw if they had any. He thought they were gone, but called the dept that had the display. There were none left there. A third person came walking up, having found one last pkg of 2, in the discounted area. Our campfire time was just how I hoped, due to going the extra steps for me. Thanks to this handful of kroger employees for their help

I love Hy-Vee and the selection is wonderful but I think the prices are pretty high. It is always a treat to shop there. Kroger has milk for $1.88 a gallon this week. Lots of other bargains too. I like Aldi but always have to suppliment that shopping with either Kroger or Walmart because Aldi is limited in the products they carry.

You're right Lucky, they are higher. I try to get some things that really don't matter at Save-a-lot and then the good stuff at Hy-Vee. It helps some.
