Stopped in at this local restaurant and had an unpleasant experience. We had to wait to be seated and had to seat ourselves. A customer, came up and said to find a seat. Meanwhile, another customer was saying "about time" when he received a coffee refill. There was only one, overworked waitress. We decided to exit this establishment and headed to a eatery that had great food ad service. (Al's). No service,No patronage.

I would think a quick phone call or conversation with the owner/manager would produce better results to your complaints than this thread would. Is this to "warn" us to expect similar service or what?

I'll tell you about my experience! Went there a week ago to celebrate the kids going back to school with my mom friends, and we had a fabulous time! We must have been offered coffee refills 10 times. Food was served hot and fast. The place was full of people enjoying the day. I can recall at least 3 servers, probably 4, who have been loyal waitstaff for years. I have a hard time believing there was only one server, because the ones he's had have been there for a very long time. Al's Place is also great, but so is "Ch*ppers".

WE ate there twice this week. Our service was SUPERIOR to anywhere else in this little town. Actually they were celebrating 15 years of being in business and we offering $5.00 specials for lunch and supper.
You can't eat somewhere else for $5.00.
You could have went during a busy time but when I went the second day I saw the Owner at the cash register.

Here again, everybody has a bad day, until it becomes a pattern, it is usually best to simply give them the benefit of the doubt.
I don't go to that establishment a bunch, but can't say I have ever had a bad experience.

You are correct Outlaw....It is usually not a problem with me unless it becomes a pattern. We enjoy going there and believe the service is very good overall. Sorry you had a bad experience City, but I believe it may have been more of a situation (whatever it was) than the norm.

It seemed like when I would go to chippers, the hot water in the restroom never kicked in.

Every time I have gone to a restaurant in Streator in recent years, I have been very impressed with the quality of service: text book level.

I go to Chippers at least once a week and have never had a problem. Of course if there overly busy we might wait for a seat but that is any restaurant Busters was the same way when overly busy u waited for a seat. Then u have to understand a waitress only has 2 hands and not all the time they can run to someones table when there fingers snap.

I'm curious about the issue of DIRT. I've always gotten clean dishes, glasses and flatware. I rarely get the buffet, usually I get the fruit plate and it's always fresh and very good. The buffet is generally being tidy'd up the entire time we are in the place. Now, possibly you have had the privilege of seeing other parts of the establishment than I've seen. Oh, and water in the rest rooms, well I can't remember the last time I went into a restaurant rest room, so I don't have any idea about that one. We went there tonight after the game was called and had a very nice meal. I got the fruit plate, Mr. R had a chicken salad sandwich, and the buffet looked very neat and still looking tasty, we could see it as we were seated near. Also we always have good service. Now if one is from other parts of the state or country, and has moved here, well the "streator service attitude" may seem a bit like Ed Debevics in the old days. But it's just the way of life here, and we grew used to the ways of the people, somewhat more candid and forthcoming than in some communities. We had a good time tonight, and I hope you'll give it another try.

We were there this week and had a not to pleasant experience also. Except, out service was great. I had a problem with the food (not a big deal) and then the owner heckled me about it, which I didn't appreciate. I ordered a chicken wrap. They recently purchased a new brand of tortilla shells and it was awful. The cook couldn't fold the tortilla because it was so dry and brittle. The waitress brought it out and apologized but I told her I would try to make it work. I picked up the wrap and it completely disintegrated and the contents fell all over my plate. She saw this and said she was going to get me a new tortilla. The new tortilla had the same problem. I told her it wasn't a big deal, but since I was unable to eat it, I would prefer to just pay for my fries and drink. The owner demanded the wrap back and then scoffed at me because I didn't want it after it completely fell apart (2x). I was very polite and I realize that sometimes restaurants try new things and it doesn't work out. That doesn't mean I should have to pay for their mistake or be heckled about it.
