Well now our "officials" are sweeping arson under the rug! WOW I did not say that at all. I only made some observations that I saw.

Streator sees 2 building fires 08/25/2013, 10:05 pm Comment on this story | Print this story | Email this story Separate fires damaged an outbuilding and a house in Streator during the weekend. Streator firefighters went at 11:39 p.m. Friday to 811 Cotton St., in the city's southeast corner, where a vacant two-story house was on fire. Firefighters were at the scene until 1:50 a.m. The house sustained heavy damage, and the cause was under investigation as of Sunday. Another nearby vacant house was gutted by fire Aug. 11 at 811 Cotton St. This fire was believed to be caused by an electrical short in the attic. At 12:01 a.m. Sunday a few blocks away at the corner of Shabbona and 14th streets, a fire caused serious damage to a metal building. Reading Township firefighters, with help from Streator firefighters, tackled the blaze. The scene of the fire is in South Streator, just outside the Streator city limits. No more details about either of the weekend fires were available Sunday night. There were a string of fires caused by arson. They started getting TV news coverage, raising crime rates, and hurting our community. The arsonist was never caught. Now we are having another string of fires, but are not arson. This article is very confusing...They have the same address posted, 811 Cotton, for two different fires...Did the same house burn twice, or did they misprint the address?...

Last year I do remember one location getting hit twice. It wasn't the same location this time...The owner of the 904 Cotton has at least boarded the house up...Can't say the same about 811 Cotton, dangerous situation there...

Blame Quinn for shutting down the mental hospitals and cutting services to people with mental issues. If Quinn would re-instate the cuts from dhs concerning mental health, those people that like to start fires would get the help they need to keep them under control and perhaps maybe permanently committing these people back into the mental institutions to keep them off the streets.

There has been a crime spree in that general neighborhood the last 2 weeks. 3 cars had windows bashed in, 2 garages entered, one forcibly, truck set on fire, gun shop attempted burglary, and now the house set on fire. It is very distressing for what has always been a nice quiet neighborhood. I agree masked man we live right by the fire from last Saturday, my husband has since put up enough lights on our garage and home that you can now probably see us from 4 corners.

Perhaps you can "Goggle" Reagan's Heatlth Care Cuts". Get your facts straight. There are individuals that need help, either for mental health or physical health, and I believe our Country is Great enough to provide it. Whether the "Spending cuts" are made by Republians or Democrats to those truly in need, shame on them, and shame on us. g

I believe Ronald Reagen was the first to close a lot of these mental Hospitals down, bad choice I'd say.
