Fire trucks were flying by the last TWO nights. Friday night to a vacant house in the 800 block of Cotton and last night on South Shabbona. Curious to see what caused these last two. Anybody know if last night's was vacant house, too?

Same house on Cotton that burned a few weeks ago? No, the first one was in the 900 block of Cotton, the next one was Friday night in the 800 block of Cotton. It was still smoldering Saturday morning. Now, last night, was the one that previous post said was on S. Shabbona St. That makes four in the last two weeks. We have a couple of dilapidated, vacant houses on our block. I got up last two nights about 3AM and just stood outside, looking around the neighborhood for anything out of place. I guess I'm just being a little skittish and could't sleep.

The local pd got numerous calls from people witnessing 6 kids running from the scene laughing shortly after the fire started last night. They passed the info on to livco 911 center to alert livingston co sheriff.

Streator sees 2 building fires
08/25/2013, 10:05 pm Comment on this story | Print this story | Email this story Separate fires damaged an outbuilding and a house in Streator during the weekend.
Streator firefighters went at 11:39 p.m. Friday to 811 Cotton St., in the city's southeast corner, where a vacant two-story house was on fire. Firefighters were at the scene until 1:50 a.m. The house sustained heavy damage, and the cause was under investigation as of Sunday.
Another nearby vacant house was gutted by fire Aug. 11 at 811 Cotton St. This fire was believed to be caused by an electrical short in the attic.
At 12:01 a.m. Sunday a few blocks away at the corner of Shabbona and 14th streets, a fire caused serious damage to a metal building. Reading Township firefighters, with help from Streator firefighters, tackled the blaze. The scene of the fire is in South Streator, just outside the Streator city limits.
No more details about either of the weekend fires were available Sunday night.
There were a string of fires caused by arson.
They started getting TV news coverage, raising crime rates, and hurting our community.
The arsonist was never caught.
Now we are having another string of fires, but are not arson.

Where in this article does it say these aren't arson? One was deemed electrical but the other is still under investigation and the other one doesn't say what the cause is yet.

I didn't say the article said that. That is just an observation from me. I think there has been even another. I don't think I had it wrong as to the ones determined.

Well now our "officials" are sweeping arson under the rug! WOW The problem with that theory is this last fire was in Livingston County, totally different police dept, totally different fire dept. and totally different fire marshal, or our our great leaders so powerful they now have control over a totally different jurisdiction?
