Well, fellow bird-ers, I have to brag. I had the pleasure of listening to,one of, my all-time favorite birds yesterday morning, a mocking bird!! We were away from home, but I really didn't think we were far enough for such a treat, but we were!!:-)

Well, during the last 3 hours, since we returned home we've seen; a few red breasted nuthatches, regular nuthatches, a few titmouse's (sp?)a couple of downy woodpeckers, sparrows, cardinals, finches and I'm not sure "who" else was out there. I think they enjoy the feeders more when I'm not staring at them and Mr.R. isn't tryng to snap their pictures, so the yard gets more attractive to them when we are away. They seemed to be having a grand time when we got home. :-)

I just came in and really there are not many birds out. One or two grackles and one sparrow. Eva is hoarding all the good birds a few blocks from me. LOL.

Dave, the post you referenced, about the birds in our yard, is from last fall's flockng. We do see a great many more varieties of birds in early spring and late fall than through the summer. Although, there was a fairly good representation of our year round visitors out there yesterday. We've been enjoying a particularly strong voiced cardinal lately. We are certain he is either very young and inexperienced or old and getting hard of hearing like ourselves. But, we have fun imagining the conversations occuring in the cardinal community about the 'loud beak' drawing the attention of the hawk and owl that now share our canopy with the regulars. Truly the singng was stronger from all of them before the predators arrived. But, I love robins, and I know the earth worms, who help our lawn, love to see those fellows flockng to leave. In fall :-)

the most species of birds I see now is hummingbirds, yellow finches and redheaded woodpeckers. I do have a coopers hawk come to feed during the day and an owl at night looking for a rabbit.

We had a ton of Robins here nesting this year, but they've thinned out here in the last week since it dried out?
Everyone else is still hanging around for the good eats at the feeder, including all of Dives Sparrows? lol
